Here are a few more curved origami pieces I made. Technically, I made them so the crease lies in the same plane. But if I make the strips narrow enough relative to the object's size, you can get the over-and-under behavior to work pretty well. I could have made all of these except the 5₁ knot

Use 9 different integers in a 3 by 3 grid. The numbers in the top row multiply to 42. The numbers in the middle row multiply to -55. The numbers in the bottom row multiply to 52. The numbers in the left column multiply to 28. The numbers in the middle column multiply to -33. The numbers in the right column multiply to 130. The sum of the integers in the 2 by 2 square at the top left of the grid is 0.

I hate how math is forced to continuously justify itself by its uses and it can't just be allowed to stand on its own. Humans have done art for thousands of years because that's what humans do. It's the same with math. Humans reason about pretend things that don't matter, and that's okay.

I just bought a new toy - it's a fully working giant slide rule that was used for classroom demonstrations in the 1960s. This is what people used for doing tricky calculations, before electronic calculators took over in the late 1970s.

I super like making models that illustrate simple concepts that are hard to grasp with words or in pictures, but which are easily grasped when seen in 3D. I've been pondering how to make a good model that show dual polyhedra, starting with the cube and octahedron. finally got it.

Cube, nicely splayed to reveal an octahedron whose vertices are the mid points of the faces of the cube.
