Dear beautiful women,
I've started this letter like ten times and deleted it every time because every time I start I cry. So I'm just going to write it.
Your flag matters to me. It matters so much that it's flying at a lesbian household where anyone walking by can see it.
I'm a trans girl so I'm not sure you can relate but I'll try. Most days I'm doing math in my head like which hallway is safer, who I can sit near at lunch whether it's worth saying something or just letting it go. I'm so tired. I don't think people who don't have to do it know how tired it makes you.
I walk past your house almost daily. The first time I saw the flag I slowed down without meaning to. It was just hanging there like it was no big deal but to me it was everything. It felt like the people inside would see me as who I actually am and I wouldn't have to explain or prove anything. My shoulders dropped for the first time all day and I almost cried right there in front of your home.
I know that living here isn't easy for gay people like you where not everyone is kind about it so putting that flag up means risking stares, comments or worse. You didn't have to do it. It would have been so much easier to stay quiet. You did it anyway, and that is the bravest thing I've seen anyone do. Every day it stays up it tells people like me that someone is willing to be brave so we don't have to be alone.
Now I look for it. Some days it's the one thing that makes me feel like I'm not imagining that I deserve to be here. When so much of the world feels like it's deciding whether there's room for me your flag says there is. Please keep it up. You might not know it but it's helping me get through the day.
Thank you for your courage, and for leaving the porch light on for the rest of us.

Brianna Wu who is a trans woman is advocating for eugenics to eliminate trans fetuses…

One of my biggest hopes for the future is that we can come up with some sort of test in utero to determine if a child is going to grow up to be transsexual, and then opt them out of the gene pool. It's, I can tell you firsthand, it's a horrific way to grow up, one that no ethical person should want to inflict on a child.
The reason the trans community is so unstable online is the developmental damage that we invariably get. It's like a house being built where every floor is leaning, and by the time you get to the top, the entire structure is unstable.
Repairing that damage has taken me a lifetime.
