So I have a problem. I may have an addiction to reading HORROR Books. But Ive found a solution that helps me to justify my daily indulgences by reviewing and blogging about them.

Currently Reading: Hearts Strange and dreadful Author: @timmcgregor.bsky.social Publisher: @rdspress.bsky.social McGregor’s horror just hits me in a way no other horrors do. I can’t quite pinpoint the exact reason why, but I think it has a lot to do with how realistic + human his narrators are.

One thing I’ve noticed about postpartum brain fog is that apparently aphasia is normal problem many mothers experience and that it takes 4x as long to write a review than it would previously. I’m not going to lie, I was worried it might be symptoms of something much worse, like early onset Alzheimer

@barfridmantell.bsky.social that was the most beautiful ending I’ve every read to a horror story to date. Trying to write this without any spoilers. As someone who experienced and escaped this kind of relationship in the past, there is no better way to being to light the real horrors than this book!

I’ve been reading an arcfolkhorror novel ‘Honeysuckle’ by @barfridmantell.bsky.social and I honestly am so impressed with this book! I normally don’t read any romance/horror books at all but this book is absolutely enthralling. I hate putting it down-haven’t felt that for a book in so long

You can judge me for this question: ‘ Is it wrong to read out loud to my 5 month old baby horror novels out loud? I’m so tired of kids books, she love when I read to her. Her brain hasn’t fully developed long term memory recall or language processing skills, so she has no clue what I’m saying.

Horror Quote of the Day: “A new year for new sins.” - @emilyrverona.bsky.social Somehow, this story lives rent free in my head. It is the automatic memory association that is made by my brain when thinking about New Year’s Day. (And yes, I’m aware that this story is about Rosh Hashanah.)

I loved @rachelyoder.bsky.social’s Nightbitch. It is by far one of my favourite feminist domestic horror novels. Just finished watching @marielleheller.bsky.social film adaptation which was very good, Amy Adams was amazing and the body horror was so uncomfortable.

Someone was asking me about various ancient Greek mythological narratives and the Greek Gods, when I came to the most shocking realization. Personality wise, they are like the divine embodiment of the cast of Jersey Shore mixed with a few of the Real Housewives from various Bravo series.

What are you reading this week? I just finished Mayra by Nicky Gonzalez, which was actually a very fun and quick passed modern southern gothic and haunted house story. Now I’m trying to decide which one I should read next. Please help me decide!! My options are:
An advanced reader paperback copy of ‘The Butcher’s Daughter: the hitherto untold story of Mrs. Lovett’ a novel by David Demchuk and Corinne Leigh Clark. The book itself is laying on top of the mail envelope it was sent out to me in.

I found a huge problem with audiobooks. The content and writing can be absolutely amazing but entirely ruined by the narrator. To the point where I don’t even want to listen. Up until this point I’ve only experienced the opposite, where the narrator makes the horrible book worth listening too.
