So you just take that agreement to the court and sign some paperwork and divorce is done?

I know I don't post super often. So here's proof of life from an event I went to last night with @malindalo.bsky.social and Michelle Cusolito. We were celebrating the passage of our Freedom to Read bill in the State House in August.

Today is technically the last day I’m pushing for this fundraiser and we’re still a couple hundred away from the $10K mark (not holding my breath on reaching the overall goal). Help me bring the joy of movies to kids in need! gofund.me/904f0391a

Got another 1k words done this morning. Trying to make the most of this storm outside by getting more done inside.

Ground ribeye steaks for burgers for the first time yesterday. That was easier than I expected, and they were pretty good. Also, more yield for 2 steaks than a lb of store ground beef (6 patties vs 4).

I'm not a doctor, and neither is my D&D character, but that didn't stop him from giving an NPC a enema last session.

Gonna try again: I'm a public school teacher in Baltimore with a newly approved D&D club. We could really use supplies and we don't have much money to spend. Please consider donating some supplies *or* sharing this post on your feed! #dnd #d&d #ttrpg #gaming www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/...

I set word count goals, but I rarely live by them (unless my contract says otherwise...lol). Good luck! You're almost there!

Oh, you totally got this! 4k is great. How far along are you?

FilmSnobbery - Nic LaRue @filmsnobbery.com · 25/09/2026

I upped my word count from earlier to almost 2600 words for today. I think I'm tapped out for now, but it was a really good couple of writing sessions throughout the day. I'm still not quite done with this chapter, but it's probably about two-thirds of the way done.

FilmSnobbery - Nic LaRue @filmsnobbery.com · 24/09/2026

I knocked out a quick 1500 words about third spaces for my latest book. Not remotely done with it yet. It will definitely encompass an entire chapter, which is what I was hoping for.

I just had a fantastic interview for my TV Dads book that probably opened up like, three new chapters for me to write about!

Film folks gotta have each other's backs! Also, we went to see the VM movie on one of our early dates, so it's a thing. Good luck with the book! I know firsthand how hard that shit is!

@filmintuition.bsky.social Just wanted to double check, is Rob Thomas or the other VM folks involved in the book or given their blessing on it? Asking for a spouse.

Just 9 backers away from 200!! Really hoping we can get there. Even a $1 donation helps us out, since turnout helps show publishers that you’d love to read a book about Veronica Mars! ❤️❤️ www.kickstarter.com/projects/wat...

I upped my game with woodworking, laser/CNC etching/cutting, lathe work, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, cooking, and baking...Looking at all that written down...I'm tired now.

FilmSnobbery - Nic LaRue @filmsnobbery.com · 22/09/2026

I have the urge to do stuff like that all the time. I go "I want to do that", and then a minute later go "and I have none of the surrounding skills to actually pull it off." lol. I'm not above learning new skills, but I also know my limits. Things usually fall apart for me when it comes to drawing.

FilmSnobbery - Nic LaRue @filmsnobbery.com · 22/09/2026

...use that experience to tell your readers how that feels. But yeah, the generic call to "write what you know" feels almost like gatekeeping to people who haven't lived full lives of daring-do and excitement. It also discounts younger people still figuring their lives out. ALL experiences matter!

000

FilmSnobbery - Nic LaRue @filmsnobbery.com · 22/09/2026

I think "write what you know" gets taken out of context. My take on that is to use your lived experiences as a basis for grounding characters in their emotions and feelings. If you've got a great bar story/joke, throw it in if it fits. Know what it feels like to lose a parent like your character...

Tried something new today: I bought comp books & pens for all my students in my upper div. class. I gave them 15min after each film to just journal about what they saw - it didn't necessarily have to be about the film so long as it addressed memories/emotions evoked by the film. No phones. Physical.
