After three viewings, I finally grasp McCabe & Mrs. Miller’s greatness. “You calling his best friend a liar?”

Never forget that Frank Oz believes the stress of dealing with Disney's initial, relentless attempts to buy his creations is what killed Jim Henson. "The Disney deal is probably what killed Jim. It made him sick," he told The Guardian. www.theguardian.com/culture/2021...

Frank Oz on life as Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy and Yoda: ‘I’d love to do the Muppets again but Disney doesn’t want me’
He played some of the most memorable characters of all time on The Muppet Show and Sesame Street - then became a brilliant comedy director. What is he most proud of?

In honor and memory of Marina Vlady, one of the very few actors to grace the movies of both Jean-Luc Godard and Orson Welles (in good company: Akim Tamiroff, Jeanne Moreau).

To finish, here's maybe the worst thing I've ever seen: Hot Dog Man. He and his horrible friend are in Syracuse, if you want to see these abominations live for some reason.
This thing is difficult to write alt text for in a Lovecraftian sense in that it's indescribably horrible. It's a six-foot anthropomorphic hot dog in a bun and some sort of wrapper. Its skin (?) tone is caucasian. It's squirting ketchup on its head with one hand, and its expression is one of concentration and, disturbingly, pleasure. Its tongue is out. There's mustard in its other hand, so clearly the party is just beginning. Its knees are bent in a slight crouch, and it's wearing sneakers and knee-high socks for some reason. It has eyebrows. Why does it have eyebrows?A wider shot showing Hot Dog Man's accomplice, French Fry Guy. It's a six-foot conical package of fries. Its face is on the cardboard cone, so maybe the fries aren't actually part of its body? I hope so, because it's eating one and giving a thumbs-up. One eye is mostly closed, the other is wide but unseeing: the irises are black, and there's just a spot of grey in the middle of the pupils. Is this creature blind? It has heavy bags under its eyes and a wide mouth with obscenely red lips. The side that doesn't have a fry protruding from it is raised in a pointed, mocking smile. It also has shoes and socks.

every director is free to resurrect their work however they'd like but 'll never quite jive with "the limitations of the era were bad so now i'm doing it with new technology" because the very limitations you worked within are how/why the movie came out the way it was and is still beloved today!
After we made this movie, I went back and remastered Mysterious Skin, which was shot on 35mm back in fucking old days for no money—like, a million dollars—and there’s stuff in it that’s always bothered me. So we took it and dropped it into Resolve, and basically did that to Mysterious Skin. There were people who were like, “Oh, you tainted Mysterious Skin!” But for me, I’m the artist—I created it, and that’s what I want it to be. It’s not like the movie’s desecrated or something. But there’s just a richness to it and a level of intention. It’s now what it actually should have been, and that’s what this toolbox opens up. It really makes me want to make a movie on, like, a fucking iPhone or something because it’s like you can really do anything to it.
