Cool. It started again. Cool cool cool. Every hit is different. I don't know how I'm supposed to block this.

Unfortunately, it worked perfectly. The unique user count dropped back to what I expected, and we've been holding steady there. Bleh. I'll disable the attack mode blockade here shortly; hopefully that was enough to convince this round of bots to leave us alone.

Is it possible to 'refresh' the data show show the latest version of the article? The doomscroll version has a typo that the article has since fixed.

Fixed a minor bug today that would only show up for power users -- if you have delta E distances turned on, the values under third party colors were wildly wrong thanks to a conversion error. They're actually accurate now ^_^
A screenshot showing a Delta E value of 72, which would imply that it's about as similar to the target color as yellow is to purple.A screenshot showing a Delta E of 2.6, which is extremely reasonable and is a very close match.

2016 throwbacks, you say? In 2012 I was working with ZCorp powder printers, but 2016 was the first time I worked with consumer #3Dprinting. I've been hooked ever since :)

This has been a really weird year. So many things have gone wrong, but a bunch of things went right too. Looking back, the thing that I'm most thankful for is you, the folks who use the site and build amazing projects. Here's to 2026!
A screenshot of analytics for filamentcolors.xyz showing the year to date. 224 thousand unique visitors throughout the year, with an average of about 18 thousand visitors a month.

So I was trying to melt out an incredibly bad layered clog (something I've done dozens of times over the years) and had something new happen: the nozzle exploded! Thankfully I'm unhurt, but it was about as loud as a gunshot and my ears were RINGING. Have you seen this before?? #3dprinting

Site update! The collections functionality is one of the oldest original parts of the site. I've been working on rebuilding it into the feature I always knew it could be and now it's ✨done✨. Give it a try! Long press or long click on any swatch to enter collections mode! #3dprinting

New site update! I've been working on this for a while, so it's good to finally get it out there. Lots of minor bugfixes here, but mostly it's that we have a LANDING PAGE and a newly redesigned swatch card! As always, let me know if you run into issues. Join us on discord? discord.gg/ceDJWqwcwT

It completely boggles my mind that I've reached the scale where it's more economical to run swatches in batches of 80... but here we are! Another batch ready for labels!

New site update! You've been asking for a way to get more results from colormatching, and now you can :) Read more about it here! #3dprinting #filamentcolors forum.filamentcolors.xyz/d/27-440-rel...
A screenshot of the settings page from FilamentColors.xyz. It reads, "Colormatch: Sometimes you just need to see more colors! This changes the number of results returned by the colormatch page. Be aware that the higher you set this number, the longer it will take to return results." It also shows a range selector labeled "number of color match results to display" with the number 6 highlighted.

This one you can actually do already, but it's not intuitive because I consider this to be a power user feature. Go to settings, then click "Deselect All" under Toggle Manufacturers. Select only the manufacturers you wish to see, then go through colormatch as normal!

Here's something you might not know! If you take ABS off a build plate before it's fully done cooling, you'll often get white stress marks in the plastic. (This also happens with other plastics, but is most obvious with ABS.) Carefully hit it with an open flame and watch those marks disappear!

Thanks to multi-material printing and Fusion, I have a solution! Most two-cube calendars only have three bars for the months (12 sides total) but I needed to display 14 events. That means I need four bars, so the cubes sit on two and the other two are hidden in the base! 3/4

I LOVE how little waste there is with the MMU3. Totally makes up for how much of a pain it is to load!

New site update! THERE'S A TD FILTER NOW! You can read the full release notes here if you want: forum.filamentcolors.xyz/d/25-420-rel...
A screenshot from filamentcolors.xyz. It is titled "Filter by TD", and has the following text: Transmission Distance (TD) values are a measure of how much light passes through the filament. This is mostly used with software like HueForge, but also gives you a good idea of how translucent your prints will be. The numbers range from 0 to 100, where 0 blocks all light and 100 is completely clear. Note: we're working on getting this value for more filaments, but right now there is only a small portion of the library with this data.

There are two buttons below that, labeled "Sliders" (selected) and "Text". There is a slider titled "TD Min" with a value of 0, and a slider labeled "TD Max" with a value of 100. There is a "Reset Filter" button, an "Apply Filter" button, and a "Close" button.

I love making jigs! This uses a custom frame and cut foam to hold swatches in the same order that the labels are printed in!

Like behind-the-scenes looks? I have three "tiers" of spooled filament: the stuff I'm actively using (on the carts), the stuff to refill the carts (the closet) and everything else, which is on two large floor-to-ceiling shelves in the basement. And this is just the PLA...

There's... kind of a way! Every filament has a maximum of two color families attached to it, so you can use the quick filters to narrow down your search. (For example, a dual tone white / red will be tagged as both color family white and color family red). That's a good point that there isn't a 1/2
