online became mostly associated with fictionkin due to online drama and jokes people forgot or were unware of how it was used and thus new terms like "Therian" arose? i dunno

Jane Ferret @fighterferret.bsky.social · 6h

My wifes guess is that it arose from "kin" becoming associated with Fictionkin specifically because of online stuff during the 2010s. "Kin" originally ment what you identified as (elfkin wolfkin dragonkin ect) with all non elves being under the tree of "otherkin" but because the idea of "kining"

Jane Ferret @fighterferret.bsky.social · 6h

well otherkin cant be elves because the term originated from elfkin not wanting to be associated with "others" and back in my day "otherkin" was anything that wasnt an elf including wolves and such. Im guessing "Therian" is just a sub-category/seperation then?

I do not actually know what the difference between Therian and Otherkin is and at this point im too afraid to ask

Being a furry is the easiest thing ever. You pick the animal you wanna be and for all time your friends will send you pics or vids of that animal while saying "this is you🫵"

it's easy to take this as an indictment of Sonic fans but honestly I think in this case whoever decided how many moderators to appoint vastly underestimated the Sheer Fucking Number of people that would show up as it turns out, a lot of people like this series!

i feel like people are going to "lol sonic fans" this which is pretty much always justified but also i can't name a single IP that could launch an official server and not need 1,000 moderators on staff 24/7 to not be instantly shut down
