Fingers crossed. In the meantime I have recently worked out a fairly simple, mostly quiet route, although I'm usually headed for the New City Rd area, I thought I'd share as it may be useful to someone.

The iron dome also deflects reality, weirdly focused on Labour, despite international agreement.

Israel Foreign Ministry

The UK labour government cannot wage a campaign against Israel and then expect to be treated as a credible actor in the region. Every hostile measure has a consequence. Keep targeting Israel. Keep losing influence. Labour is making the UK irrelevant.

Amazing work by the City police, if only the rest of Greater London and the country had their resources. Full details in the alt text.

I see you sharing this graphic on Facebook, it is misleading. It shows the Greenway in Newham which was closed earlier in 2026 for three years. As you can see there are no other north-south routes in the borough.
Two low detail cycle maps of Greater London labelled 'before 2016' and 'after 2026', nice loophole because it shows the Newham Greenway in the second one which was closed earlier in 2026 for three years.

1989, Global warming accepted without question by Thatcher, "the world must act without delay". 37 years of inaction later and we are seeing the effects of all those prime ministers who sold us out to the oil companies, every single one of them.

I'm on Hackney marshes enjoying the breeze in a hammock. Just got passed by another large group heading to the River Lea for a dip in last night's sewage overflow.

An actual Land Yacht, sorry.
A single person wind-powered vehicle used for overland travel on flat, open spaces like beaches, dry lake beds, or airfields. Resembling a three-wheeled go-kart with a mast and sail, it is steered using foot pedals or hand levers while the pilot adjusts the sail to catch the wind.

Looks like a 3 wheeled fully recumbent bike that is very close to the ground with a windsurfing sail attached. Pictured here on a featureless sandy beach with a turbulent sea.

Newham have deliberately not allowed hire bikes, there was some fiddling around the edges about a year ago and Lime can now reach the western edge of the borough. But it's far from useful for residents.

I like to do my bit by getting Gemini (free tier) to create pointless single page apps for my amusement, if we all do similar stuff we can cost them a lot of money, don't tell it where the bugs are, just ask for different animals dancing.
A screenshot of Google Gemini.

Happy Hardcore Crocodile Rave Application

Create me a single page application with happy hardcore music light sticks and crocodiles dancing. Please include a beats per minute slider which is tied to the speed of the music.

This single-page application upgrades the audio to a more complex synthesis engine—featuring a chunky distortion kick, a rolling bassline, and an authentic, ravey "Hoover" synth—while the crocodiles dance and move around the screen in sync with the BPM slider.

Save the following code as an .html file and open it in a modern browser (Chrome/Edge/Firefox recommended for the Web Audio API compatibility).

Thanks, worth looking at that side of the park again, in my head that was a bigger zigzag. Not so many one-way streets on the western side too. I'm very aware of the Pelly Rd junction, I see the motorway crash barrier is still there.

LOL. Thanks Google Gemini. 🤣
A Google Gemini search response advising me on how to get YouTube without adverts.

"YouTube ads are currently non-existent or extremely limited in Albania, making it a popular, unofficial, and free alternative to YouTube Premium via VPN usage. This is not due to a legal ban, but rather because Albania is not part of Google's monetized markets, resulting in a lack of inventory for advertisers. Users can watch uninterrupted content by setting their VPN to an Albanian server."

Yes I'm on a bus, I gave up cycling Hackney to Plaistow at the beginning of the year despite it being my most regular route, I can't rely on the Greenway being open or diversions being safe. It now takes twice as long and involves a train and a bus. In good news I'm reading books again.
West ham lane choked with cars, little do they know but Stratford high Street is also gridlocked. My bus was stuck there for 5 minutes even with priority.

The new cycle path on Pool Rd in the Olympic park diverts you towards gates that are locked when West Ham play in the stadium. This seems to happen every time I decide to go that way, this was Sunday.

I'm wondering if that's an AI written piece from FB, I've not heard the "horse bend" myth in connection with Blackwall before. Here's the explanation for Rotherhithe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotherh...
It includes sharp bends at the location of the shafts. This allowed the sections between the shafts to be straight, thus reducing the complexity of construction and avoiding the foundations of the docks. An urban myth is that the bends were installed to prevent horses from seeing daylight at the end of the tunnel too early, which might make them bolt for the exit.

The pavement on the corner of Bridge Rd and High St is tiny, so I'll admit, I sometimes salmon and am very careful taking the corner. Weekend cyclists sometime shout at me for going the wrong way, it's always men on road bikes with all the gear. 😁
