Morning play time! We recently connected with the family of one of Axel’s litter mates that had a DNA test done and found out he’s 72% border collie 19% Australian kelpie and 9% Australian cattle dog/German shepherd! (So a purebred Handful.)

My pottery class is almost over and I'm pushing myself to make as much as I can. It is so soothing to go to the studio, put on my headphones and just create. Today I threw this 4.5 lb beast, my biggest yet. Like 60% or so of my creations, it will be home to a plant. I can't wait to see it finished!

I’ve never had a puppy. Autumn was 6 months old and in my 13-years-ago memory it was all almost effortless. Figuring out what this guy needs and attending to him is a 24/7 job. Today we walked in the woods. He terrorized when we got home, but it’s 7:50 and he’s asleep and that’s a miracle.

I decided to take a 17 credit academic writing heavy term in school. Now there’s a government coup, I have a puppy trying to tear apart my living room, and I’m frantically writing papers on healthcare policy that won’t matter next week. Here’s Axel’s one week growth spurt, last Tuesday to this.

We’ve had Axel for 9 blurry mushed together days; cleaning up accidents, snuggling, learning the rules, completely rearranging the house and yard. At the same time I’ve been following, watching our government be dismantled. Thinking a lot about how we’re going to move forward. Love you friends.

A little levity among the madness: Our little guy has gone from shy to dictator. His herding instincts are blowing my mind. Autumn is queen mama. We’re all tired and in love, with ears ringing from tiny barks. Can’t wait to start on talk pad training and ground level agility fun!

Things with the rescue moved fast and today we brought home a new family member! He was born Nov 11, Armistice day, so we named him Axel, a northern Euro/Scandanavian name meaning Father of Peace. We couldn’t have asked for a better first day with him. Autumn says “acceptable.” It’s been dreamy!

Weeeeell that escalated quickly! The rescue called and said they think we can find what we are looking for more easily in a puppy and they have a shy boy who we should consider. It’s not for sure until he’s in our car but, the plan is to pick him up Wednesday! Look at his little heart nose!!!

We have been approve for general adoption through the collie rescue and are talking about all the dogs. We’ve already determined 2/3 of these won’t work for our family/them, but we’ll be looking at and talking about lots of dogs as we search for our new family member. The right babe will find us!

I MADE WINTER FLOWERS!! First project success!!! Also, I knocked Bennett and myself out of LDB this morning when I put on Charlie Brown Xmas, forgetting it’s on there. Then I realized that 10+ years of playing LDB is enough, so, LDB out. FOREVER. It’s officially LDB meltdown season in this house!!

I'm working on building a feed for our DPW/NVO community. Yesterday I planned to do some more work/learning around it and maybe make a post to share it so we can start using it. But, using the correct tags, the posts never showed up. I'm not sure what went wrong. Trying again now. Fingers crossed!

I have a photo series I started in October 2021 where I have been taking a photo of the same spot at least once a month, with a lot more photos during the seasonal changes of spring and fall. I would like to showcase my series but am not really sure how, outside just posting them. Suggestions?
