Original IBM PC, 128k RAM, two 360k floppies, monochrome monitor. Cost significantly more than my current i9, 32gig RAM, 1TB SSD boot drive, dual 4TB data drives, 3 27" monitors.

Our grumpy guardian bear bag hanger (well, marmot bag as it's too low for a bear hang) near King's Peak, Utah. The troll had been out in daylight and turned to stone, I suppose. I don't think he liked my food bag as his nose...
Utah troll out at daylight turned into stone. Still grumpy at my food sack looking like his nose. (Just below Gunsight Pass, near Kings Peak, Utah.)

Per my rain gauge, we got 3.1" of rain since Sunday. (Kirkwood, MO, near St. Louis) Looks like more headed this way today. (re-posting because I forgot to ALT the image)
Rain gauge showing 3.1" of rain collected 5/17 - 5/18/26.

Ah, my franchise feels so much better for the exercise. Local (city council and school board) only but even local elections matter.

The whole region of the "Five 'Stans" is fascinating as much in their cultural differences from one to the other as in their varied geography. As a significant part of the Silk Road, significant in world culture and trade. Favorite photo from our tour was the Grand Mosque in Bukhara, Uzbekistan.

One of the best April Fool's gags from the past...and yes, Signetics actually published this back in 1972. Nice that they had a corporate sense of humor.

The only one of my two MO Senators to respond to my recommendation that he vote NOT to confirm RFK, Jr., sent this response. Our other Senator, Josh Hawley, didn't even respond with a canned message. We have to wait for 2028 and 2030 to rid ourselves of these two Senators.

Oh, yes. Let's replace income taxes with tariffs. One can only hope that enough members of the House and Senate studied their history of tariffs and who actually pays them to realize they have to block any such efforts.
Tweet from Trump claiming (again) that tariffs will be paid by the exporting countries, not by the citizens of the U.S. Somebody please tell Congress to stop this before it starts.

Merry Christmas and Happy (first day of) Hannukah, which fall on the same day in 2024/5785.
Christmas tree and Hannukah menorah drawn with the same graphic, inverted. A star at the pointed tip, flames of the eight menorah lamps at the wide end.
