My GP recommends swimming for my back. I want to go. There are 2 communal changing rooms. Labour say I should use the mens. I am a visibly female woman with a GRC. If I use the mens there's a serious risk of me being confronted and worse. So where do I go? I don't. I'm segregated from society.

The silence is not because many kids are doing well at school, but because those trying to protect trans kids are exhausted & afraid, because supported trans kids are being forced out of school, & because supported trans kids in school fear speaking out will lead to greater surveillance and abuse.

GLP, as lawyers, sometimes write as though their audience is lawyers. I'd like GLP guidance to be useful beyond law courts. Discrimination means a different thing to a general public, or teacher, than in a court of law. We need to call out discrimination even where it is not 'illegal'.

I also see examples where a newly out trans person, lacking knowledge, community & safety, endorses some rather conservative (& self-harming) positions as a way of trying to maintain cis approval, distancing themselves from 'extremists', & the cis person feels extra validated in those positions.
