Less flippantly, I've decided that I don't really want to be a part of fandom spaces anymore; I realised that I enjoy things a lot more when I'm not involved in the fandom. I'm still on Tumblr because its format makes it easier to dip in and out, while maintaining a healthy mental distance.

Oh, NOW everyone wants to move to Bsky, huh? 🙄 Anywho, I'm not deleting my account because I don't want someone else to hijack my username, but I'm probably not coming back here even after Veilguard drops. You can still find me on Tumblr (fiannans), otherwise...later gators.

Unmarked story spoilers for Veilguard are everywhere after the high-level combat video and I’ve already been spoiled for things I would have preferred not to know, so I’m taking a step back from fandom spaces/social media until the game’s out. See you all sometime in November. ✌🏻

Look, if Veilguard gets a cool collector's edition then I'm preordering that ASAP, I don't care what anyone says.

Toss up between Davrin and Lucanis for me! I genuinely cannot decide between them at this point, so it’s gonna be whichever one steals my heart. (Dear Bioware, please let me romance them both at the same time so I don’t have to choose.)

Also disappointed but not surprised that it's 2024 and Bioware is still afraid to use anything other than a generic looking white guy protag in their trailers.

Did I just order a physical copy of the Xbox version of Greedfall Gold Edition, despite owning the original game already? Yes. 😂 I blame @wardenpotato-queen.bsky.social for making me want to replay it. 🥰💜

Just remembered how I agreed to go get Naut tattoos with Vasco on my first playthrough of Greedfall, only to immediately reload and turn them down instead because I didn't like the way they looked on my Lady De Sardet. Sorry, Vasco. 😅😂

I jarred my right wrist falling down last night and now it hurts whenever I try to use it, which sucks because it's my dominant hand. I have too many things to do, I don't have time for this shit.

Wait...big, sweet bear man who's still searching for his purpose and the place where he belongs...big, sweet alien man who's still searching for his purpose and the place where he belongs... No wonder I love Halsin.

I want to gush about them so badly but I have no one to talk to (and I feel like I'm already annoying people on Tumblr) so I'm just slowly dying inside, unsure what to do with all these thoughts and feelings I have.

Sadness and an overwhelming sense of loneliness have been winning today, but I did get to finally see Deadpool & Wolverine, which was fun. Also, I'd pay money for a full music video length version of Deadpool dancing to "Bye Bye Bye".

Aaaaaaaaand naturally both of my parents have brought some disease (please not Covid 😭) back with them from their trip when they’re staying in my house for the next few days. 🙃

Sorry in advance, but I'm probably going to continue to be fixated on Halsin (and Halsin and Rina) for the immediate future. The grip this big, sweet druid man has on me right now is extremely powerful.

It was also really nice to get a bit more context and more details about what Halsin and Rina's life together in the reclaimed shadowlands looks like. ❤️

Halsin: Our community grows rapidly; in six months, we have turned what was once a shadowy wasteland into a true home for all. In another six months, I would wager the scars of the past will be entirely invisible even to those who remember them.

Halsin: The old masonry of Moonrise Towers and Reithwin have been repurposed into new homes, and the land is rich with harvests and bountiful trees. Nature and civilisation are in harmony, stronger together.

Halsin: I spend half my days in ursine form - the children demand it! I had a score of them taking turns riding upon my back just days ago.

Halsin: As for roaming...that impulse has dwindled, I must admit. Perhaps because I have found where I am meant to be.

110

Andrea // archive ✨ @fiannan.bsky.social · 05/08/2024

Forgot this one! 😭🥺 (She missed you too, Halsin. ❤️)

Halsin: You would think someone of my vintage would be inured to the passage of time, yet these past six months have seemed endless without your company. But now our paths cross once more...

000

Andrea // archive ✨ @fiannan.bsky.social · 05/08/2024

Good news: I finally managed to force the game to show me at least one version of the "romanced, but didn't stay together after the final battle" Halsin reunion at the epilogue party...by making Rina go with Karlach and Wyll to Avernus. 😂🥹

Halsin, looking at my half-elf Tav: Ah, there it is. That is what I have been missing.

Halsin: And she is lucky to have you. Just as I was, for the time we shared.

Halsin: Our love was always unbound - free to flow where greater forces would dictate. And still, you have found yourself before me once again, if only for a night.

Halsin: So do you as must, and see where the path takes you. My door and heart will both remain open to you, always.

Don’t want to work, just want to lie down and think about Rina and Halsin while listening to “Down by the River” and “I Want to Live” from the BG3 soundtrack on repeat.

On the bright side, while experimenting with different options trying to get other versions of the epilogue to trigger, I got to see some different romance dialogue from Halsin...gosh, I love him. 🥹💚

Halsin: Then I will watch the horizon for you each day, and fix your image in my mind each night, until I feel your touch again.

Andrea // archive ✨ @fiannan.bsky.social · 04/08/2024

Also, I never got the option to ask Lae'zel about the githyanki egg at the party and I'm so bummed because I really, really wanted the ending where she raises it. I'm also a bit disappointed by how little she has to say at the party if you convince her to stay in Faerûn. :/

110

Andrea // archive ✨ @fiannan.bsky.social · 04/08/2024

Reloaded my post-Netherbrain save to see how some of the different choices play out at the reunion party (like convincing Lae'zel to stay in Faerûn and choosing not to go with Halsin when he leaves) but the epilogue keeps bugging out and acting like Halsin and I stayed together when we didn't. 😭

Also very happy that the owlbear cub is going to come live with Halsin and Rina, because that was already one of my headcanons. 🫶🏻💖

Armoured Owlbear: "Tired now. Want sleep. Want cave."

Dialogue option 1 highlighted: "You need someone to look after you. You could stay with me and Halsin?"

Armoured Owlbear: "Bear man? Hm. He is big, but not bigger than me. I like him. I go to him!"

My half-elf Tav talking to Halsin. Second dialogue option highlighted: "I may have volunteered us for something, if you'll forgive me. Might we have room for a well-behaved owlbear?"

Armoured Owlbear: "Happy. Gonna live with the bear man - gonna fight him! But no bite. Promise."

Got so many hugs at the reunion party (two from Shadowheart) 🥹❤️ I only wish there'd been an option to surprise Wyll (and Jaheira) with a hug too!

"Don't be an ass, Halsin," made me laugh, but I'm so happy this was an option, I would have been heartbroken (and so would have Rina) if he'd just left with no opportunity to go with him.

Halsin: And I...well, I shall have my own selfish reasons for wanting to see you again, if you wish the same.

My half-elf Tav looking at Halsin, with the first dialogue option selected: "Visit as soon as I can? Don't be an ass, Halsin. I'll come with you right now."

It took more than six months and just over 210 hours, but I finally finished Baldur's Gate 3! 🎉 Even though I've been looking forward to seeing how it would end and being able to move on and play other things at last, now that it's actually over I'm feeling a bit melancholy and bereft.

Withers: Hear me, thou heroes, wastrels, friends. I have waited long to tell you these words.
