A pedestrian has been knocked down by a driver by the Kennedy Avenue shops in Macc. Unfortunately, she appears to have been seriously injured. A road that should have a 20mph and a crossing: but doesn't. Macc Councillors must take some blame: but won't.

A sad story. In 1954 my mother was 21. She received a card and these flowers on Valentine's Day. She's 93 now and to this day she has no idea who sent them. They have probably passed away by now.

Hilarious twist. In correspondence with me and @congletonsustrav.bsky.social Cheshire East referred to their "Local Measures programme". By FOI I asked for a copy of this programme. They have responded to say they don't know what the "Local Measures programme" is.

Interesting things people do. My niece grows her hair very long and has it all cut off to be used to make wigs for cancer patients. She's done it for many years. She's an all round good egg.

I have submitted an FOI request to CEC about their "Highways Local Measures Programme" for Macclesfield. I have also submitted an FOI to Cheshire Police about a report that I submitted with dashcam evidence of a driver ignoring the red light at a pedestrian crossing.

I have today written to the Councillor for Gawsworth and the Chair of the Highways Cabal about the road surface on the A537 between Monks Heath and Henbury. The smooth surface is likely to be lethal for cyclists once frosts start. I have asked for it to be resurfaced as a matter of urgency.

AI. I have a mate who deals in second hand books. Years ago he bought a complete library from Astra Zeneca. He sold very few and was going to chuck the rest. Now he's selling up to 100 at a time to US companies who are scanning them for AI training. He's made a small fortune!

I'm ashamed to say I have advised a friend against using the bus. He asked me about buses from Macc to Crewe to catch the Caledonian Sleeper. I said that I wouldn't rely on the bus to catch a specific train. D&G buses are not reliable enough. Felt bad.

Shopping on the High Street. Wanted a sit mat. Guy in Mountain Warehouse appeared not to know what that was(!) Sent me upstairs. No staff, no sign of sit mats. Wandered to Go Outdoors. They are closing down. They were helpful but didn't have any. I will make one out of some foam sheet.

The Manchester Road, Macc active travel scheme will be implemented shortly. Initially it was a protected cycleway. However the drivers didn't like it so it's now a pedestrian crossing (Dorchester Way) and a raised table crossing (Badger Road). The drivers still don't like it "can't see the point".

Last week I wrote to six local CEC Councillors about the problems pedestrians face when crossing the road at the roundabout by the Spire Hospital in Macc. It's on the boundary of three wards. Not a single Councillor has responded.

Just driven to Bollington. On my return home I wrote to Bollington Town Council to suggest that unrestricted "free" parking at Pool Bank was a disaster. It's being used by some local residents for long term storage, the EV charging bays were occupied by people not charging. It was chaos.

My broadband provider had trouble in understanding that I didn't want a higher speed and I could easily manage with a lower speed cheaper package. They eventually offered me something cheaper and slower. Far too difficult. Virgin media.

Sad to hear that the Hanging Gate inn at Sutton is closing. A couple took it over in 2020 and put a lot of effort into it. It's a small pub in a relatively isolated position. Even the big chains like Green King are pulling out of the area. The ground being more valuable than the pubs.
