They banned the parade @garvaghy and now they need to stop the attempt at any prosecutions of the protesters that made this ban possible

I had to check this as it sounds impossible. The pure obscenity of public execution is bad enough. But the idea that it will be streamed & kids might see it! Medieval! (or early modern). Next thing they will be doing a Tyburn-esque public holiday complete with ballad singers, pickpockets & hot pies

And yet the BBC this morning are trying to skewer @greenparty.org.uk for basically saying the same.

This was a good result: getting 33% of the vote in a safe Labour seat. Zack must stay and build on this success. And Reform came nowhere! However the BBC coverage this morning is reminiscent of the sharks circling. They hate & fear the Greens because we very effectively challenge their status quo

It pains me to use Farage as an example, but he ran in a fair few elections before getting a seat. So no-one can tell Zack he should go because he came 2nd in a safe Labour seat. Plus a 22% increase in vote share for @greenparty.org.uk is fantastic. We need Zack's clear thinking & plain speaking

Ffion Pearl @ffionpearl.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Disappointed at Labour win today But we were a strong 2nd & it was always going to be a difficult seat at a difficult time for @greenparty.org.uk It is now essential that @zackpolanski.bsky.social stays as leader. The media will say otherwise 'cos he scares them. That is why we love Zack & need him

This is a great point. The PSNI are probably too lazy and underfunded to do 15,000! Trouble is, they can't only single out a few leaders as it will look like they are just doing Bryson's bidding. Oh dear, I wonder how they will deal with that conundrum? 🤔 Solidarity with all opposing the march

Hoping for a green win in Holborn and St Pancras! The BBC have ignored it, hoping it might all go away and the rest of the media and their funders are terrified of possibly having to live in a fairer, greener society Vote 💚

I would love to, but it's a bit far from PZ. I go to their online events. I'm sure some of my debt & welfare advice colleagues from Stockport will be there.

The ineptitude of the panellists is disturbing. They don't even know that the cap is not on Child Benefit but on Universal credit so their figures are all wrong. The cap relates to £292.81 per month child ELEMENT of UC and not to £26.05 per week child benefit and not one of them had a flippin clue

The beauty of dyslexia! I read that as "Useless water" Which made perfect sense. Pretty much all water companies are doing this & govt are just letting them get away with it Then (insult to injury), they take the poorest to court for bills they couldn't afford in the 1st place & then use bailiffs

Yes that's why I'm giving social media another go: I can't keep quiet when the sound of marching jackboots, heralding the rise of the far right, is getting louder all the time. What happened to 'never again'?

Stopped using Blusky due to increasingly mad 🌎 But worrying news about swing to @reformparty_uk means I can't be silent. 90 years ago in the 30s my grandad went to fight Fascism in Spain. In the 40s he fought Fascism in Germany. That was when we knew this Fascist bigotry is evil. What went wrong?

I'm worried about talk on cuts to disability benefits from MPs who have no clue of the consequences. James Cartlidge; shadow defence sec on BBC this AM effectively saying people with Anxiety should toughen up. No understanding that Anxiety can cause severe physical symptoms, palpitations & fainting

We could consider helping people more & killing people less. It would be cheaper "Oh how naïve" some will say. I accept that this is not clear cut. But I don't accept that we can't aim a bit higher than just more money spent with destruction & death in mind

Its very clear when we look at income vs expenditure & the money spent on utilities is such a high proportion of the UC std allowance. So if you pay for utilities, you cant pay rent top up, council tax, food, travel...or to worksearch. Either the whole cost needs to change or social tariff needed
010
Ffion Pearl @ffionpearl.bsky.social · 14/01/2025
We need asocial tariff for people on benefits and the basic state pension (as it's no longer possible for state pension claimants to get the winter fuel allowance). Plus the WHD needs changing back to the old system (but with more money paid out)

That shouldn't happen after 2 days as there have to be at least 2 reminders before summons & they cant use bailiffs without summons & liability order. So Viv must have had at least 1 previous reminder. The situation is no less awful for all that. Bailiffs should be banned on all but commercial debt

Possibly. I'm afraid your question is rather wide & that without context it would be difficult to answer. If this happened to you, perhaps just chalk it up to experience.

..Its what most of us know, but don't often see articulated on TV. So Mr Peston, if you want to know how the cost of living crisis is really still hitting people, just ask a debt adviser (not me). We do budgets every day & nothing says more about how people are still suffering than those numbers

I watched the last 3 Peston's as bored. @martinlewis.moneysavingexpert.com had a lot of sensible stuff to say on why perceptions of politics are so bad. For once I agreed 100% V Simply: The system forces MPS to lie & everyone is floating about in their own social bubble...Including those on Peston.

Orflaith is sleeping. She's such a princess and doesn't like getting her paws muddy or her fur wet when we go out walking. She prefers sleeping! But Orflaith means golden princess, so she is just living up to her name.

No-one should be in debt for medical care. The UK have it sewn up though: If you are unlucky enough to get landed with a medical bill here, its most likely because you have no recourse to public funds..at which point bankruptcy or a (free) DRO, is an impossible luxury & even owing the NHS is a risk

Its not the put down of our rising of 1848. Or the '16 that saw our heroes, Casement, Connolly, Plunkett & all executed. Its all of these & the starvation: An Gorta Mor, which saw outrages like Delphi Lodge. The 1920 burning of Cork, Kerry boys of Knockanure executed by the tans & many more. Shame
