The ornithoper design and action sequences were KILLER! The lack of worm I found as a clever use of anticipation and reveal, but the worm re-design? ick. This blood worm mouth looks stupid. And the CGI desert mouse stood out so glaringly in a film that otherwise looked seamlessly real.

I rewatched Dune last night. Fuck, that movie is gorgeous but the casting/performances seem focused on aesthetics more than essence. For a tale of kingdoms clashing, there is a lack of regal poise. Baron seems bored, Jessica too emotional, and Chalamet kept reminding me of Luke Wilson in X-Files.

The newish Audible adaptation of Dune is EXCELLENT, partly due to the fact that it alternates narrators. However, Chani is read by one of the narrators as "Chaah-nee" and another as "Chay-nee". I find that maddening to listen to, but a good solution to accommodate variety in reader pronunciation.
