Finale of Lanterns in a few hours. Maybe the next DC show can be a little less miserable. This was fine but not fun in the least

It took me 27 years to realise that Romy’s dress in Romy & Michele is almost a definite nod to 7 of 9’s origjnal silver suit. Did you ever notice this easter egg @seanferrick.bsky.social

DC shows need to stop referencing Joanne's Anti Trans Fund Wizard show. Three times Lanterns alluded to it. I feel for my trans friends who are GL fans. I heard Jessie Gender in a video say she had to stop watching. Change the line to 'Space Arkham'. There! it's fixed. Lanterns is ok. Not amazing

I’m finding Prime is more faithful to original masters of shows. Max and Paramount and Netflix flatten everything with unforgiving upscaling

I actually liked Season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow. It’s not that bad. People have always dogged on it. The seeds for the JSA are laid out in the pilot. Great show

Today I'm entering that stage in my grief where everything seems hollow and pointless. I know the only way to the other side is through. I know Dad was 92 and in a lot of pain. Still I miss his laugh. I miss his wisdom and I miss the joy he brought me. I literally couldn't move today for exhaustion

It seems to me that James Gunn has a penchant for passive aggression on social media when people critique his DCU. Lanterns is okay. Not great or terrible. Blatantly obvious they had no money for big set pieces & boring town was the default. I'd have rathered a Berlanti show. That would've had hope

My father was 92. Displaced in World War II like the kids in Narnia. He never forgot the horrors. A woman had her house fall on her & was saved under her bed when it fell on her through the ceiling shielding her from the blast. His friend was in a POW camp. He couldn't believe it was happening again

I've not seen this week's Star Trek SNW yet. It's hard however to listen to miserable manchildren moaning about how 'it's not Trek' when these fantasy episodes are the show's version of holodeck episodes. Also my father died Saturday. It's been a miserable week. I need to laugh and enjoy silliness

Tonight was day one of my father’s funeral and I wanted it to be something beautiful. Instead my brother in law told me to get help when I declined his handshake. For 30 years he’s gaslit me. Not one of them sympathised from my sister to her kids. I am destroyed and the funeral is forever tarnished

‘We may forget the details but we won’t forget the emotions’. This was a great line in this weeks Strange New Worlds. I lost my mum almost three years ago and every day some details get a little more foggy but the love, the feelings I felt and the emotions we shared are always there.

Yes @seanferrick.bsky.social, I too was living for the leather trousers and hairy chest too! Also back in the 90s Ireland did have Days on Sky. I gather you’re a good bit younger than my 46 years so before your time maybe. Deidre Hall is amazing. I had a friend who worked with her on Days once.

When you’ve been burned so much by Strange New Worlds that it comes to a ‘I’ll get it out of the way’ era. The last two episodes were terrible

I bought Batman: Knightfall on the Apple TV store. Finally after the cheap looking Tomorrowverse we are back with high stakes and well crafted stories. Anson Mount has a great measured restraint in his Batman voice. It reminds me of Kevin Conroy in a way.

Why do all the aliens have to be human passing bar Sinestro and Hal’s pet carnivorous plant. This ultra grounded thing is detracting from the fantastical nature of the property. At least make her blue or something like the guardians in the comics.

So the Jimmy Olsen thing is happening? What are we doing here Gunn? Literally nobody said ‘Jimmy Olsen dramedy’ when they asked for quality DC properties. Get a decent writer on Wonder Woman. Use Sophie Campbell as the run you build Kara off and he’ll just quit. My dude you’re terrible at this.

Well said @seanferrick.bsky.social. I enjoyed the craft of these muppets (used in the Irish sense) but there’s no point to this story. It would’ve made better sense in the Trelane story as a short gag. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow did this far better. But, absurdism was that shows MO. I’m worried too.

I'm usually a DC guy but I argue the X-Men are the most important comic team for anyone who is considered 'the other' in society. The cartoon cast are heroes themselves. Lenore Zann, Alison Sealy Smith, Cal Dodd (who is Irish & his brother is the backing singer on Total Eclipse of the Heart)...

Listening to Kim Wilde. I love her so much. In her 60s with her brother Ricky she is still amazing. Very down to earth. I've been steadily collecting her catalogue for a few years now. Cherry Red Records are great for classic remasters.

Lanterns is Yellowstone with Green Lanterns. Can we please not be ashamed of what we are. It’s fine. It’s just fine. But the gratuitous swearing and unnecessary sex scenes just to say this is HBO’ and ‘we’re grownups’ takes me out of it. It’s fine. It’s an okay story but it’s brown & lacking colour
