The thing is - Sunderland has seen a LOAD of investment and regeneration over the past 15 years. It’s a different city from the one I grew up in. It’s vibrant and prosperous. So I don’t k ow what it is that people think they need to throw away. I’m so sad today.

I think he’s grabbing the back of his shirt and the hair gets in the way. I don’t think it’s a deliberate hair pull. I think if it’s deemed deliberate then long haired players have an automatically advantage that stops defenders getting all over them.

Why can’t we have any ounce of judgement on things like hair? It was obviously accidental from Ballard, not like DCL last week. If refs can make judgement calls over whether elbows are violent conduct or accidental, then so should hair pulls.

Quite amused by this article in The Athletic, which basically boils down to ‘everybody assumed Sunderland would be shit this season and finish bottom of the table and if they’d done that instead of turning out to be quite good then Spurs would currently be 17th and probably fine’
