#ageofetra there’s a ton of little things I didn’t record or cover. UI builds, animations, etc etc. eventually I’ll do a more visual update thing… maybe. Functional battle system first, hoping to have a box bonk another box working by next year… maybe? Yeh, we will see.

#ageofetra functional goal #5 but was actually like a very early one I implemented, COMPLETE: Save and load. It does work and after a lot of testing I’ve gotten most of the bugs out, as you can see I’ve got some already saved testing files! I should probably figure out auto save eventually #gamedev

#ageofetra functional goal #5 COMPLETE: A LITTLE GUY JOINS THE FRAY. This is another key item event, where the player must buy a “Bell” from Cassidy 05 in order to recruit Onion. This is a crucial step to creating the party system for the ongoing monster of the project, battle. #gamedev

#ageofetra functional goal #4 COMPLETE: Cassidy 05 + INVENTORY, SHOP AND MONEY!! This was actually one of the heavier parts of the dev room demo. Limited stock and currency is available, shows up in player menus and have functions gear/equipment in place (in prep for battle system use!) #gamedev

#ageofetra functional goal #3: COMPLETE: part one of inventory :) TREASURE SPHERE AND EQUIPPABLE GEAR (that effects stats!!) this is also a test of implementing a pre-requisite/key item function so that the player must obtain the weapon to unlock a story progression event. #gamedev

#ageofetra functional goal #2 COMPLETE: introduction narrative dialog, with bonus tone setting dialog with new bonuses of Neth adding some more context. The player cube placeholder is functional, has bounding/collision and can jump for no reason other than for jumping. I love Neth cube. #gamedev

I’ve had my new Kobo reader for maybe a month and I’ve read 14 books on it since then which rules. Being able to access Libby on device is so, so nice and because of it I’ve even started reading manga again which reminds me: Read Witch Hat Atelier if you haven’t and if you have, read it again.

I beat Pokemon Lazarus last night and it’s one of the most delightful Rom Hacks I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing! So much love went into this. Legit going for a full Pokedex and full quest complete to continue my journey 😭

I did try useing my SuperNote as an alternative at one point (it does work!), but I’m a “needs physical buttons, backlight for night reading & a non-jumpy side-loaded app” experience kind of guy. Also helps separate work from hobby, since the SuperNote is very much a workhorse for me.

The e-ink device obsession continues (it’s a colored one so it’ll be fun to see how it holds up!)

10,000 acres have burned and these fires are still going. It’s been rough for my family and so many others. One of the three fires in Spokane, particualrly the one that ripped directly through the city, was revealed to be arson. It is a very rough time.

My Mom, brother and animals are safe and evacuated, but the Autumn Lane fire is a mile away from my Moms home. The winds are taking it south and though I feel relived for my own family (atm) so many more have lost everything but the shirts on their backs.
