Dear neighbor…

Let's resist the pressure to be odds with each other I'm writing to let my neighbors know that I am resisting the pressure of divisiveness that would have us at odds with each other.
I believe there are men in power who benefit when we are angry at each other, when we accuse each other falsely, and when we spread rumors about each other.
I believe there are those in our country who are setting themselves up - falsely - to be worshipped as omnipotent gods, subject to no laws, accountable to no person. And I believe those individuals are creating terror by targeting the most vulnera-ble, including the refugee, the widow, the child, the sick, the poor.
For certainly if they are blind to the immorality of targeting the most vulnerable among us, they will target us as well. So, my neighbors, I pledge to honor the great commandment that implicates us in a relationship of mutual love and concern, no matter what today's Herods would have us do.
