Maaaybe I'll post it on AO3 and make it a pay-what-you-want e-book if I'm feeling daring. The important thing is that I'm having fun playing with my OCs and putting them in situations.

So who cares if I maybe I could tighten things up a little more in some places? I'm writing this thing for me. I'll share it with the friends that want to read it.

Just thinking about all that would have entailed and reading up on it a little and seeing how many queries people were writing was giving me massive anxiety and completely killing my desire to write. So I'm not doing it.

And in the end, I've decided against publishing this as a book (even if I keep calling it that) because it just doesn't seem worth the energy and earning enough from writing to make a living isn't attainable for most people anyway. Especially since I wouldn't want my writing on kindle

We'll see if that will match the feedback I get when the writing is refined enough for me to share it with a friend, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Draft 0.5 is done! Well I finished it on Wednesday, but I read it over with fresh eyes today to see if there was anything major that needed to be added or removed. I originally was a bit concerned that the pacing of the earlier chapters might be too slow, but I'm happy with where I'm at now.

#wip #writing Long time no WIP, but we're finally getting somewhere! It's getting close to spooky season, so this feels like an appropriate one to share

Going into the woods in the dark and without a source of light wasn't high on Noctis’s list of priorities at the best of times. It was even more true for these particular woods. Given the circumference of many of these trees, they had to be ancient. They felt… alive. Like the groaning wood and whispering leaves was the trees talking. Or perhaps screaming into the void.

That alone would have had them on edge, even without the rustling underbrush and bone-chilling animal calls that sounded out of this world. But what unnerved them most of all was that Belladonna made nary a sound as she moved, stalking along the winding pathway like a cat on the prowl.

Her hissed warning never to stray from the path, no matter what they thought they heard or saw didn’t help, either. Noctis’s head was on a swivel, not that it did them any good when most of the canopy was too thick to let through enough pale moonlight to illuminate their way. How were they supposed to stay on a path they could barely see!?

It definitely helps that I have reached peak obsession with my OCs. I missed rotating blorbos around in my head like a rotisserie chicken 24/7. It's good for morale. Okay, end of ramble, have a good day

But yeah, it's been going well, especially with the (erotic) horror scenes. Most importantly, I am finally having fun writing again and not just writing because I want and need to write!

Because guess what? It's a whole lot easier to know what you're cooking when you have all the ingredients gathered. And then you also know how to season the dish (aka foreshadow) appropriately. At least it's what works for me

I should probably clarify that draft 0.5 is basically a play-by-play with no care for consistent tenses, name to pronoun ratio or using the same word 4 times in the same paragraph etc. That gets highlighted and then future me can worry about that and the flow and making it sound pretty later.

I've been making good progress with what I'm calling draft 0.5 (even if I've said "only 3 more chapters to go"... 5 times? now) My goal was to have that very rough draft done by the end of the year. That has gone from "it would be nice" to "that is more than feasible".
