I think the grounds are meaningfully different, tbh. Doesn’t mean I think the first call (which was 4-3, not unanimous) was right, but the difference is legible.

AH okay. I think it’s a meaningfully different legal issue, but I see what you mean. Outcome-wise, yes.

We knew what was coming but the issue did not officially exist until Hoskin’s ruling on 8/4. Getting through Cole County ruling + SCOMO appeal in under a month is quick work. missouriindependent.com/2026/08/04/m...

Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins blocked a vote on the state's congressional map declaring a referendum petition unconstitutional.

Hey sorry but actually the courts moved VERY quickly on this. I live *just* on the other side of state line but MO SoS delayed his ruling on the signatures on purpose, at which point Judge Green ruled quickly (though incorrectly) and SCOMO ruled quite quickly on the appeal.

Atlantic also gets put in far left in the new ones bc they’re avowedly anti Trump despite 3/4 of their writers being GWB conservatives and war on terror hawks.

Trump broke all these charts even worse. The newest versions have Reason as center, bc as an avowedly libertarian rag they disagree w Trump relatively often. To a blind reader (usually the methodology) disagreeing w Trump roughly 50% of the time seems “center” but like no lol

There was so much hope in ‘18! A D from KS! And then she got a pass from a lot of folks in ‘22 because the maps had changed to be less favorable so people understood the increased pivot to center. But the district keeps moving left and she honestly may have even moved right.

This would be great but yeah I don’t think it’s an accident she hasn’t done it. Her votes on this issue are fine but she avoids the topic like the plague. My emails from her STILL talk about bipartisanship and capping insulin at $35 dollars and basically nothing else.

I agree w sentence 1 but I don't think there's any squad adjacency. She is no longer normie dem, she's one of the most conservative members of the D caucus. It is that bio that has caused her reputation on that front to lag behind the reality of her voting record (but I live here so I follow).

Objectively, yes. Not the same odds as the other two. And smart for her personal ambitions. Unfortunately still a net loss for all of us. Her current seat is safe, and she is more centrist than her district.

TL; DR is get rid of Title IX and you will see women’s sports disappear and still roughly 50/50 classes at the most elite schools, but literally one click down you will see men’s enrollment fall through the floor just to improve the stats. Source: I work in enrollment management. 8/8

ÚltimaCocaCola @fenaughts.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
A funny example of this is UNC Chapel Hill. An elite school with DI sports that has incredibly built out women’s sports in part because they are mandated to maintain high admit standards while maintaining 80+% of enrolls from NC. Only way to accomplish this is to give up on gender parity. 7/x

ÚltimaCocaCola @fenaughts.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
The inside baseball there is that USNews penalizes you for having too few enrolling students with SAT scores, but also low scores hurt you, so schools walk a tight rope. It appears I can’t count, but this should be 6/x.
100
ÚltimaCocaCola @fenaughts.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
This FORCES them to aim for a 50/50 class. What this means is that men who apply do so with drastically reduced standards for admissions. For schools playing the USNews rankings game, these questions get really complicated as they balance men with bad SAT scores against those with no SAT at all 4/x

ÚltimaCocaCola @fenaughts.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
But many of these colleges are DEEPLY interested in their men’s sports programs ESPECIALLY football, which has a HUGE roster. What this means is they almost can’t (or won’t) field enough women’s teams (especially at the level they hope to compete) to get more women’s than men’s sports slots. 3/x
100
ÚltimaCocaCola @fenaughts.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
That’s not really the case, though! Men are DRAMATICALLY underprepared for college, such that any school outside the top 50 struggles to find qualified applicants to fill a 50% male class. Schools outside the top 100 basically can’t do it at all. 3/x
100
ÚltimaCocaCola @fenaughts.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
For context: Title IX requires parity between sports slots and total attendance between men and women. The assumption is that this works in one direction: schools enroll classes at rough parity, and so must have sports available in roughly equal measure for men and women. 2/x

ÚltimaCocaCola @fenaughts.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
These morons have no idea how much Title IX is to thank for their mediocre sons getting into good colleges. Getting title IX thrown out would be the ultimate dog-caught-the-car moment. While, to be clear, harming women in the process. The above isn’t to say it would be a *good* thing.

I’m an outlier as an uncaucused but probably “DSA right” guy who bothered to join DSA in my red state, and it was the organizing vacuum (other than DSA) that got me in the door. With my politics I probably would have been in NYCDSA years ago.

ÚltimaCocaCola @fenaughts.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
Also, solid-D states attract people who would be Rs if born elsewhere, sometimes moderating the average D in that state. Downstream this moderates the DSA (don’t need to as far left to wanna ditch your dems). NYC and CA are prime examples. The reverse can be true too.
