Our society is deeply sick: the only way to heal it is to give a shit about someone other than yourself.

The thing about liberation: someone else’s freedom does not come at the cost of your own. We need to stop acting like it does.

I try to live a life where I extend my ideals to my hopes for everyone, and also keep a balance by keeping sight of my own work. Unfortunately, this has led me to a place where I am truly baffled by people who move with unfettered entitlement.

Mundane acts that are helping me exist: this morning I was walking my tiny dog in my neighborhood. A neighbor very kindly pointed out a pitty wandering at the end of the block, just in case. I told the neighbor I recognized the dog, she lives on the next block over & is very friendly.

My neighbor, who has lived on my block only 1.5 years was complaining to me this evening, that she blames the “rowdiness” of the neighborhood on the bar that used to be on our corner… that burned down 25 years ago. 🙄

Sometimes my neighbors pitbull walks with me & my chihuahua around the neighborhood; I usually end up on repeat telling strangers that my little one is mean, but if they must pet a dog, the pitty loves it! Pitbulls are born lovers- they deserve to be treated like it! Best to just ignore chihuahuas 🤣

Been catching up on @badgayspod.bsky.social and their work is so illuminating on the ways that identity politics Can Not be a signifier for Radical Progressive. Also, it doesn’t matter how many love letters you write to fascists, they will still hate you & get rid of you as soon as it suits them.

We are here now because a lot of higher edu believes they are so progressive & therefore beyond racism… so racist ideas such as “black people feel pain less than white people” aren’t directly addressed in med school.

If you are interested in plant medicine, may I suggest you hang out with plants around you as a starting point? Such as plants that grow around your house or around your neighborhood. Plants that come up in the cracks of the sidewalk. Any and all trees you regularly see.

I gave my dog some advice today that I found helpful to myself: She puked & tried to then eat it, & I moved her away from it while saying “it’s good to get it out- but once out, we don’t put it back in.” Anyway, may you purge what is hurting you! And remember, it came out for a reason.

It is really annoying when after a scandal, people will be like “I never liked her!” Or “I always knew he was bad!” … but they never said anything before the scandal, even when they maybe had a chance to. Tldr: you don’t get to say “I told you so” if you never actually said anything.

Some states have a “victim’s fund” (not a great name) that will pay for a SA kit to be collected— but it often doesn’t cover medications that might be needed or treating other injuries that may have occurred during the assault. And certainly not follow up appointments. It is shameful.

And they wonder why no one is upset when a health insurance ceo is murdered
Tweet from @KayeSteinsapir reading:
"It's disheartening when your child dies, you make the excruciating decision to donate her organs (which substantially compounds your grief and trauma), then you have to pay $3150 because your insurance company @AnthemBCBS wouldn't pay to keep her body alive for donor recipients."

Below is a screenshot of a claim summary from Anthem showing "Support For Organ Donation" and that she owes $3,150
