My first attempt at a quick and simple watercolour. Trying to challenge my perfectionist tendencies while building some new skills. #watercolour

A simple, minimalist watercolour painting of a mountain and an evening sky. The clouds are tinged with purple and pink, the mountain is green with the outline of trees in the foreground. A brown path leads out of the scene with the hint of a shadowed figure walking on it.

Test print - I like it! I think it’s close. Things I’d do differently but it’s hard to uncut lino! #linocut #printmaking

A monochrome, blue-black, Linocut print of a magpie in a bell jar. The bird stands on a block and appears to be singing. Oddly, its skeleton is also visible as if we’re perhaps also looking at an x-ray.

Reggae covers of Radiohead songs should be illegal. Maybe even punishable by death.

I’m getting ready for work while my dog lives my best life 🤷

A very handsome whippet is sleepily wrapped in a doona that has a native Australian print.

Test prints of my most recent lino cutting. I’m happy with the design but still learning how to work with ink. #lino #linocut #printmaking

Three test prints of a lino cutting in a row next to the original lino cutting. The cutting is a magpie feather surrounded by a thick border. The first print is on office paper and is pretty rough, the other two are on a good quality off white paper and have been cut so the borders are of different widths. The artist (me) has included a simple signature in the right hand corner.

This is just the distraction I needed today - a wee drive in my delightful brown Alfasud. So good to have you back you pretty lil’ car you! #alfaromeo #alfasud #alfisti

The beautiful, simple interior of a restored 1974 Alfasud being driven by a very happy me.

My brown 1974 Alfasud parked in a suburban street in Melbourne. So cute.

I know someone out there needs to see this today 🐶❤️ #dog #cute #whippet

A whippet sleeps on a beanbag cuddling his teddy. His head rests on the teddy while his front right paw and leg curls around it. His tennis ball is by his side.

My second linocut print so why not try two colours?! Actually, that’s the question - why? What drives this? It’s been hard work getting to this point and there’s still a way to go… so why? No really… why? I honestly don’t get it. #linocut #lino #print

A linocutting of a stem or orchard flowers ready for printing

A very rough print of a stem of orchards. The border and leaves in the lower left corner are a dark green while the flowers are a dark dusty pink colour. The green border is patchy however the detail in the flowers is pretty good.

Can the editors of the Age/SMH explain why they still run pictures of some Aboriginal people without their names in a caption? And why photos of Aboriginal people from central Australia are creatively half-framed with an image of dirt? Let's hear the reasons out loud, see how they sound.

So, let me get this straight. Jewish people now have a Voice to parliament? No referendum. Not even a parliamentary vote. Simply appointed by the PM. Now don't get me wrong, good on them, but I might be just a little jealous. 🖤💛💔

Thread. 1/5 Antarctic Krill. A “keystone species of the Southern Ocean, providing food for many important and charismatic marine creatures, from fish to whales”. When I was young I was fascinated by Antarctica and its delicate and important ecosystems. I learned the importance of krill…

An amateur pencil and water colour drawing of a single Antarctic Krill. Its multi-sectioned body tinged with orange and green.

Djoongari are a threatened Aussie rodent once widespread before European settlement, now only found on five islands off the coast of Western Australia. Nicknamed “shaggy mouse” they are nocturnal and like to eat flowers and green vegetation. They are also super cute. #drawing #nature

An amateur drawing in pencil and watercolours of a “shaggy mouse” - djoongari. Its fur is long with golden/brown colouration and it crouches in sand.

I love capturing the tenacity of life during my daily wanderings. Something about Life insisting on living just because that’s what it does! #sacred

Fungi growing between the bottom of a wooden fence and a lichen covered asphalt footpath

A small brown mushroom grows out of a wooden outdoor chair.

Moss and tiny plants growing out of a brick wall. The wall is white, and the plant life grows from a spot where the concrete rendering has broken off exposing the brick behind it. The green contrasts against the white.

A tiny garden grows from the top of a wooden pole. The pole is a flood water marker and at the bottom left of the photo is the torso of my whippet who is brindle and white!
