🌱New preprint 🎉 I am happy to share this last work of my PhD research! We uncover a novel role of cysteine protease RD19 in immunity. RD19 regulates RBOHD-generated ROS and is required for induced resistance responses. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... More details in the thread below! 🧵

Arabidopsis cysteine protease RD19 limits RBOHD-generated ROS production in pattern triggered immunity
Plants perceive pathogenic threats through receptors localized at the plasma membrane and inside cells to initiate pattern-triggered immunity (PTI) and effector-triggered immunity (ETI), respectively....

Our interdisciplinary collaboration with Stephanie Kath-Schorr group characterizes Thio-pRib-AMP, an enhanced derivative of a natural plant nucleotide immune second messenger. Thio-pRib-AMP leaf spray increases plant disease resistance. Check it out: doi.org/10.21203/rs....

How do pathogens disarm plant immunity? We discovered a widespread strategy used by plant bacterial pathogens: they directly cleave a conserved immune signaling molecule produced by plant immune receptors. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

TIRs are key regulators of plant immunity, but the role of conserved TIR-only proteins has remained unclear. Here, we compare TIR-only proteins from Arabidopsis and barley and show that they share a conserved role in plant immunity. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Conserved TIR-only proteins drive transcriptional defense and basal immunity in dicot and monocot plants
Toll/interleukin-1/resistance (TIR) domain NADase enzymes signal in plant immunity by producing ribosylated nucleotide second messengers which activate EDS1 dimer-helper NLR pathways to restrict patho...
