Per sources, the Trendon Watford deal is a non-guaranteed minimum. There is a $250k guarantee, which moves up to $500k if he is not waived before the first day of the season. The contract will be fully protected if not waived by Dec 30th. This means he is the 15th roster spot.

Christian Koloko and Kobe Bufkin will be E9 deals. This means no G League obligations if they get waived, but a standard non guaranteed min if they are on the roster after camp ends. Koloko does not have 2-way eligibility left so this is a true compete for your spot opportunity

I'll have more thoughts on this. But in a hypothetical Mathurin sign and trade that sends Herb to the Clippers, the Pelicans would be severely downgrading in terms of guys who impact winning. Herb's 3 year RAPM is +3.2, Mathurin's is -2.9. The difference equal to adding a star

The Pelicans no longer have a dedicated reporter from the Athletic, ESPN, or the local paper. Just makes me sad to reflect on. The combination of an uninteresting team and how print media is dying across the country makes it tough for anyone to pursue this full time.

Was traveling for a tourney this weekend (we won 💪🏾) so just catching up. DeAndre Jordan's deal being a 2-year full guaranteed deal means no reimbursement from the league and therefore Pels on the hook for the full amount. Including the full hit on their cap sheet.

Gonna be out of town but Saddiq Bey is extension eligible starting tomorrow for a maximum of ~4/$93M. These are some extension done in the past for somewhat similar players. But the Tobias and Rui free agency deals do change the calculus.
