I was a uniquely lucky grandchild of survivors, as I had six grandparents. My paternal grandparents divorced and each remarried. They all remained friends, and when my dad’s stepmother would come to L.A., she and my grandmother spent most of their time together.

Oh yes. My grandparents were alive into my adulthood. My maternal grandparents as well. I never knew my great uncle, but I did know his widow. My grandfather’s best friend lived well into his 90’s, and he wrote a memoir. I need to get it translated. My uncle had it I believe.

Term limits don’t require constitutional amendment. The Constitution requires a lifetime on the federal bench. Rotating circuit court judges onto SCOTUS for set periods wouldn’t require amending the constitution. The Constitution also says “good behavior” so an ethics code isn’t out of place either.
