Celebrating women this #IWD starts with acting against structural inequality. These stats give a glimpse into what women in UK theatre face daily - and don’t scratch the surface when it comes to the experiences of disabled, trans, queer, Global Majority or working class women #InternationalWomensDay
Pink graphic for International Women’s Day titled “Women in UK Theatre.” The image lists statistics about gender inequality in the theatre industry: 68% of theatre audiences are women; 90% of theatre critics are men; the gender pay gap for theatre freelancers is 37%; only 24% of credited theatre writers in 2022 were women or non-binary; 72% of women performers feel pressure to look a certain way to book jobs; 80% of women with caring responsibilities in the arts have reduced their working hours; 60% of women considered leaving the theatre industry after COVID-19, with 80% still impacted by the pandemic; and 83% say their jobs are made harder by health issues such as menstruation, menopause, fertility issues, pregnancy, and pregnancy loss. The F-Bomb Theatre logo appears at the bottom.

A person with long, dark red hair stands confidently in front of a classic red British telephone booth. They are wearing a shiny silver space-themed suit with a name tag that reads "INDRA." They hold a white astronaut helmet under one arm, which reflects historic buildings in its visor. Behind them is a red wall covered in urban stickers and graffiti. Overlaid on the image is a red and blue circular graphic resembling the London Underground logo, with the text: “HELP US GET FLOAT TO LONDON!” A stylized illustration of Big Ben with motion lines is included at the bottom of the graphic.

Have you seen the feature about MONUMENTAL #Edinburgh900 in this month’s @theskinnymag.bsky.social ? 😍 Thank you @rhojogan.bsky.social for your beautiful words! We can’t wait to premiere this show on Saturday.
A magazine page from The Skinny titled “Invisible Women.” The article, written by Rho Chung, discusses Monumental, a feminist walking tour project by F-Bomb in Edinburgh. The page includes a large photograph of five women sitting and standing on steps in front of the Scott Monument, a gothic structure in central Edinburgh. The text highlights the lack of commemorations for women in public statues and how the tour seeks to address historical marginalization. The bottom of the page features The Skinny’s logo with the tagline “Independent Cultural Journalism.”
