i think in order to fully re-normalize physical media and personal websites we need to drop this nostalgia shit. we need to stop treating this shit like it's a throwback, and start treating it like a wise choice in a world where not owning your media and online presence is constantly fucking us over

the subtle horror of realizing that time is moving on, and what you held dear is impermanent enough that it will just disappear while you're not looking. maybe this is why so many of us cling to the familar, the reliable. maybe younger me was right to mourn the passing of windows xp.

THIS IS HUGE! Researchers have developed a nasal COVID-19 vaccine that BLOCKS transmission of the virus. This suggests vaccines delivered directly to the nose or mouth could play a CRITICAL role in containing the spread of respiratory infections. Phase I clinical trials HAVE BEEN APPROVED! 🧪🧵⬇️

There is always ways to help! 🐻☎️ Call your local representative today and tomorrow and the next day, too!

illustration of a brown bear on the phone- there are speech bubbles around the bear with information on how to contact your local representative. calling is the most efficient way, but you can also email and send physical letters. congress.gov and 5calls.org are two sites that can help find information in regards to the issues we are currently facing.

5 ways to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth (cause the fed govt doesn’t run your house) 1. Find out what Sojourner Truth REALLY said 2. Buy a Black horror, scifi or fantasy book 3. Listen to “Naima” by John Coltrane 4. Send the victims of the LA fires in Altadena a few coins 5. Get a library card

We are about to enter an era of extreme and dangerous culture war in the United States. How do we protect our communities and work toward a cultural ceasefire? In this piece I wrote a couple months ago, I offer one possible path. wapo.st/40q1BDn

Opinion | Libraries can help end the culture wars. That’s why they’re under fire.

Nothing threatens authoritarianism like a free, quiet place to absorb a full range of information.

in real life, most shapes are convex, curving toward the exterior. shapes that *look* concave are often two convex shapes meeting. using convex lines makes a drawing look volumetric. simplifying into a mixture of convex and concave makes it look more flat/graphic.
