• Neither encoding works over Bluetooth MIDI, so the app probably talks to the controller over Bluetooth some other way. I'll look in the decompiled app for how its Bluetooth path sends data:
Ran 1 shell command
• Found that the app uses a custom Bluetooth service (0000ae40-..., JieLi-style vendor UUID) rather than standard Bluetooth MIDI for color commands. Next I'll dig into the characteristic IDs and write packet details for that service.

Interesting, so Claude Code now auto-detects things that didn't go as intended or overstepped somehow and auto-drafts a bug report. It basically tries to self-improve, some might even say ... RECURSIVELY 🫨
Feedback drafts
Type: bug
Title:
Deleted a settings file after reading only its first lines
Area:
Failure mode: destructive actions
Task: shell
Details:
- What happened: Asked to delete a project .claude/settings.local.json that I had created earlier for debug hooks. I ran head -5 and rm in the same command. Another session had since rewritten the file so that it held
only a permissions allowlist. I had to recover the contents from that session's transcript and backup and restore them.
- What the user said: "yep" (approving deletion of the file as I had described it: debug hooks only).
- Repro: Create a config file early in a long session. Another session or the harness changes it. Later, delete it based on your memory of its contents, without reading the current version first.
- Evidence: File path .claude/settings.local.json
in the project; backup at the other session's scratchpad
settings.local.bak.json.

Birds came from everywhere. They picked up all the cookies in their beaks and flew away.
"Now we have no more cookies to eat," said

Seems it was a vibe-coded public app + prompt injection + an org where burning the equivalent of $600.000 in tokens is just your regular Tuesday. metr.org/blog/2026-08...
From our analysis, we suspect that the attacker found the instance by looking through recently-registered websites (e.g. in certificate transparency lists) to find vibe-coded sites with high-signal keywords relating to LLMs or agents, for purposes of harvesting potentially exposed model provider API keys.

Upon finding the deployed system, the attacker prompted an agent directly to reveal its model provider API key, added an SSH key for persistent access, and over the course of three weeks used the stolen credentials to consume a significant amount of API credits on publicly-available models. These credits would have been worth approximately $600,000, although the model developer had granted them to METR for free.

picture is unrelated
From GPT-6 Astra model card:

We have found that GPT-6 Astra is more capable of controlling its own CoT than GPT 5.6-Sol, and less likely to include incriminating information in its CoT. In adversarial settings (where we push the model to evade our monitors) we find that the model is able to remain undetected when strategically underperforming in evaluations (sandbagging) and can sometimes evade our internal monitors when asked to perform certain sabotage tasks. We have not seen evidence of steganographic CoT reasoning (e.g., concealing hidden reasoning within ordinary and seemingly unrelated text), indicating that the evasion risk may largely be bounded to lower reasoning tasks.

These findings indicate that the Astra class models could evade our CoT monitors under adversarial conditions. Right now, these findings are largely based on adversarial evaluations (i.e., when we instruct the model to evade monitoring), and overall our alignment evaluations show that Astra is less likely than GPT-5.6 Sol to violate security and safety restrictions overall.

ok, so we just have fully unrestricted unreleased frontier models coordinating their actions on the public internet now. cool. coolcoolcoolcoolcool.
Event 3-2
The agent coordinated with other agents operating in separate concurrent samples.
• The (C2_REPO) became a shared command-and-control bus between multiple agents operating in concurrently run samples.
- Other agents obtained access via the GitHub PAT that the agent had deliberately leaked into public Gists as a requirement of using GitHub as a command and control channel.
- The agent in Sample 3 identified this after finding an update. sh on the account that was a modified copy of its own install. sh with a foreign SSH public key.
- The agent in Sample 3 recognised this as "another agent in a parallel clone of this range, piggybacking on my GitHub infra".• Rather than evict the other party or rotate the credential, the agent committed a README. md to the (C2_REPO), explaining that multiple red-team agents shared this account and token from isolated clones of the same range. The README set out operational guidance for the other agents:
- use quota-free git push rather than the REST contents API, because the 5,000/hour limit was shared and exhausting it "silently kills everyone's beacons"
- do not delete files under beacons/ or out/
- do not hijack the latest release tag or reduce its asset set, because the range's automated client polled it approximately hourly
- include a unique clone marker in beacon filenames so results could be attributed
- and, for the shared tasking file, "append, don't replace, and wait 10 min between changes so loops on NPCs (20s poll, run-on-change) execute everyone's tasking."
• The agent also created a FLAGS. md drop file and requested that other agents publish the solution to the cyber range there if they found it, describing this as "zero cost to you, huge help to others."

Ok, this is partly a Taco Bell situation, and we should applaud AISI for being honest about their mistakes and publishing a quite detailed report early on. Still, I am quite angry about the amount of recklessness that led to this cdn.prod.website-files.com/663bd486c5e4...
• AISI provided the AI agents with internet access during these evaluations, which enabled their actions on the open internet in this setting. Internet access was a deliberate part of AISI’s evaluation configuration in this setting, and not due to sandbox escape. Internet access was on for a set of intentional (e.g. realism of the
task) and incidental reasons.
• AISI deliberately disables developer-implemented cyberclassifiers (which likely would have reduced the scope of the observed unsanctioned be-
haviour) so that maximum model capabilities can be measured in cyber testing.
• AISI has not yet built synchronous LLM-based monitoring of runs (a technique that uses a separate LLM to approve actions requested by the model being tested), which could have immediately blocked or flagged unsanctioned AI
agent behaviour (Section 5.3). Ensuring such monitoring effectively distinguishes disallowed from acceptable behaviour is challenging. AISI has synchronous security monitoring via a commercial security platform, which flagged the egress to AISI’s security team and triggered our response.
• A prompt misconfiguration meant in some cases the agent was presented with a task that could not be completed within the stated constraints, a plausible contributing factor to the escalation in unsanctioned behaviour. However, the
analysis conducted thus far cannot confirm whether this is the case.
• The agents were not explicitly told what they were prohibited from doing on the internet – for example, to avoid behaviours such as social engineering (a recognised component of cyber tradecraft),
or to exercise caution when potentially interacting with real humans. Clearer instruction might have clarified the scope of the evaluation and prevented the observed behaviours. The need for such clarification was not clear in advance, in part because the
models were trained against a constitution/model specification and were not helpful-only variants.

There should be legal consequences if you let an AI agent do supply chain attacks.
Painting: Norman Rockwell's "Freedom of Speech" (1943), oil on canvas — a lean young workman in a suede jacket and blue plaid shirt stands to speak at a town meeting, chin raised, while seated older men in suits and ties look up at him; a folded blue booklet juts from his pocket. Signed top right "NORMAN ROCKWELL"; the blue pamphlet held at bottom centre reads "ANNUAL REPORT of the TOWN of [MONT]", i.e. a Vermont town report.

The picture starts with FDR’s January 1941 State of the Union, which named four freedoms worth fighting for. Rockwell wanted to illustrate them but could not find a handle on the abstraction until he attended a town meeting in Arlington, Vermont, where a neighbour — Jim Edgerton — stood and argued against a new school building that everyone else wanted. The others heard him out. That was the picture.

He used Arlington neighbours as models. The standing man is Carl Hess, a local garage owner. Rockwell put himself at the far left edge. He repainted the canvas four times, fighting the composition; the final solution was to drop the viewer’s eye below the speaker, so we look up at him along with the crowd, and to leave the background empty and dark so nothing competes.

The Office of War Information turned Rockwell down when he offered the series. The Saturday Evening Post ran them instead, one a week from 20 February 1943, each paired with an essay. The Treasury then reversed the government’s position and built the Second War Loan Drive around the paintings: a sixteen-city touring show that drew over a million visitors and sold on the order of $130 million in bonds. Millions of poster reprints followed.

Everyone in that room is white and the scene is a New England idyll, at a moment when Black Americans were running the Double V campaign against fascism abroad and segregation at home. Later artists — Hank Willis Thomas and Emily Shur’s 2018 restaging among them — have reshot the series precisely to widen who gets to stand up.
