WIP, halfway through Chart C of Romi Hill's Lost Coast. Yes, there are a couple dropped stitches, they fell off when I was stretching it out for the photo, they've been secured with safety pins and I'll pick'em back up when I'm done with my work day.
A section of a silk and alpaca knit lace shawl in a delicate purple ombre shading from lightest lavender to grape. The yarn is silky but also fluffy, with a soft alpaca wool halo that warms the skin on contact. The stitch pattern looks like leaves or petals growing in size as one approaches the bottom of the shawl pattern.

Did some budgeting for the Pride and Prejudice and Parsnips warband I'm planning for Turnip 28, and the minis cost is going to be in the ballpark of $100. That's a fricken steal and that's with me buying multiple minis to kitbash into single units.
A discord screenshot where I say, "hm the trousers are not tight enough in the Perry Miniatures civvy sets. I suppose I shall have to sculpt my own tuberous Mr. Darcy"

His adoptive older brother's name is Vaquero Bean (aka Beancat).
A normal-sized ginger cat sleeps next to an enormous black-and-white cat on top of a leopard gecko vivarium. They are both drawn by the heat lamp. The gecko (who is not in the picture) is completely unafraid of them as she knows the door is locked and the cats can't open it.

I have sent the pineapple away to another state to live with its destined owner, so all I have is WIPs. When she puts together the Regency outfit the pineapple is to go with I will post face-censored pix.

Here, have more pineapple photos.
The Pineapple turned inside-out to reveal its beautiful silk lining... which is visible through the miniscule eyelet holes on the outside of the pineapple. The bottom of the Pineapple with its little modesty ruffle of ribbon and the tassels in full view.

The white specks on the desk are not dirt, they're where my sewing needle punched through the veneer and revealed the pale interior of the fiberboard.

I got brigaded on knitting reddit because I told someone I didn't like that they said they hoped my insurance would cover the physical rehab I would need for completing a complex historically accurate project by mid-July. I finished it ahead of time, no physical rehab needed.
A historically accurate (circa 1810) beaded pineapple reticule knitted in silk pearl-stringing thread dyed 8 different colors. It is lined with silk charmeuse and habutai dyed to match the colors of the pineapple (green and gold). It sports a ruffle of velvet ribbon on the bottom, twisted silk cord drawstrings, and a fancy yellow silk tassel on the bottom and the end of each drawstring.

The perfect cellphone concealment device for any contemporary Regency cosplayer. It was a birthday gift to a friend.

You WILL want steel needles though as carbon fiber DPNs that tiny will have tiny poky carbon fiber bits sticking out of the tips that will grab that silk and yes, shred it. So to prevent slippery silk from sliding off steel, invest in cheap rubber earring backs and use them to secure your DPNs.
A replica of an 1810 pineapple reticule knit on US 00000 needles (1mm wide) with hand-dyed pearl-stringing silk in eight different colors (the closest thing we have to historical purse silk). It has beads along its open edge, all along the bumps of the pineapple, and three magnificent tassels, one on each drawstring and one hanging from the cluster of ribbon on its bottom.

It is roughly the size of a RL pineapple, and hand-lined with silk charmeuse and habutai pieced so a green section peeks out of the green parts and gold out of the yellow and brown parts. 800 hours of work.

Now with horrifying (but SFW) bad fountain pen doodle.
A small open spiral-bound notebook with a red clearbody Pilot Prera fountain pen laid across it. Drawn on the page in oxblood colored dark red ink is a comic doodle of a hedgehog dominatrix in two latex bandeau tops, each conical teat cup tipped with a tassel. She wears tiny spiked heel latex boots with badly drawn fishnets and armpit-high latex gloves.

Also, a smudge of dark lipstick and a dominatrix mask.

The caption reads "Mxtress Tiggy-Wingle of the Small Woodland Animal Fuck Club"

Describe your Bluesky account with a single image.
The butt-butt end of a painstakingly knit Regency pineapple reticule. 800 hours of work with the pucker of the final decreases hidden by a little velvet and satin ribbon modesty ruffle shaped like leaves, bottomed off with a little green and gold cord and tassel matching that of the drawstrings on the purse.

And while the eyelets for the drawstring channel were hidden behind the leaves of the pineapple. I assure you I used the tailors' buttonhole stitch to finish them. Unfortunately I was too busy sewing the buttonholes to remember to photograph them. Tassels and ruffles next.
The lining turned inside-out to show the piecing and handstitching for its construction. Sage green, gold, and then sage green again, in a softly textured silk habutai. lying beside the pineapple are the drawstrings made with green silk thread, twisted until they form a nice sturdy cord. Tassels will be handmade to go on each drawstring.

The yarnovers one can barely see through without magnification. I used Kinkame silk sewing thread to assemble and hand-sew the lining and also more of it to sew it into the pineapple itself.
If one peers very carefully through the 1mm wide yarnover eyelets on the surface of the knit pineapple, one can see the gleam of silk charmeuse peeking out between those itty bitty openings. Each section of the lining has been colormatched to the various sections of the pineapple — green for the leaves and bottom, gold for the middle fruity bit. It was very much a pain.

Melissa Wong @favomancer.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
I have just finished piecing the silk lining together for L’Ananas de l’Enfer and sewing it in. Because I like suffering I decided the lining ought to be two layers, habutai on the inner layer and charmeuse on the outward-facing area so that it shimmers behind the yarnovers in the pineapple.
A hand-pieced and handsewn silk lining being stitched into a tiny historically accurate pineapple reticule. The side visible from the reticule's opening is made of silk habutai in sage green and light gold.

I just finished knitting this...
A hand knit silk pineapple, knit in thread 0.325mm thin. I nearly went nuts on this, I assure you. Little gold-plated beads on each bumpybump of the pineapple.

I am working on making a lining, some tassels, and a modesty ruffle for the bottom of the bag.

@franklinhabit.bsky.social I believe you will be interested in this. Knitting done. Now to make the drawstring, sew the lining, make the tassels, and make the ruffly bit that covers the decreases in the bottom section.
A glorious pineapple reticule knit with US 00000 (1mm) needles and pearl stringing silk — the closest thing to historical purse silk as I could get. The silk has been dyed eight colors and the pineapple therefore moves through various hues and values: light green, medium green, dark green, brownish-green, gold, medium yellow, yellow-brown, rich brown, and then the brownish-green, dark green, medium green, and light green again. There is a little gold bead on the tip of each bump in the yellow/brown section of the pineapple.

A knit Regency pineapple reticule, about 3/5ths complete. It is pleasantly bumpy, knit in a slippery delicate reeled silk thread with 1mm needles, and each pointy bump of the pineapple is crowned with a shiny gold-plated bead.

That's about half the pineapple knit up.
Half of a hand-knit beaded silk pineapple-shaped reticule. The bottom half has yet to be knit. Currently boasting a total of 480 beads knit into it — 320 for the cast-on and 160 for the two colored sections of the pineapple.

A pinenipple of a different color. I swear that yarn is yellow. At least against the brown it looks yellow. Against another yellow it looks green. Vexing me to no end, I wish I had put that one against the leaves instead of the other way around but I'M NOT REDOING THIS.
A very small half-knitted pineapple purse. Silk thread, 1mm needles. Thread has been hand-dyed in what is currently six colors with 2 more to come. Scaled against an Apple keyboard so you know just how wee it is – it basically goes from the V key to the backslash width wise. and from the function keys to the spacebar height wise thus far.

LOOK AT MY PINE-NIPPLES, THEY'RE FUCKING MAGNIFICENT.
The top leaves and the top bit of a historically accurate knitted pineapple reticule in what will be 8 colors of yarn. The fruity part is in a light gold silk thread, and that part of the knitting has sprouted little bumps which are tipped with gold beads, like little knitted boobies.

This is knit on a scale that is uncommon in the 21st century — the needles are US 00000 (1mm) and the thread is 0.325mm thick.

But also, have some cat, Dr. Tingle!
A tiny black-and-white kitten with a fluffy belly, sleeping on a bed. He is lying on his side with his legs spread out, dwarfed by the human hand held next to his head and back. The same black-and-white kitten 18 months later. He dwarfs a 2L soda bottle. The same black-and-white kitten three years on, being indulgent big brother to a rakish looking half-grown orange cat sleeping next to him, on top of a reptile terrarium. (The gecko who lives in the terrarium is completely unafraid of and unbothered by these cats.)

100 stitches per 4 inches of width, motherfuckers. 21 rounds = 1.5 inches of length. 3 colors down, 1 more to go, then it's to the main body of the bumpybumpy fruityfruity pineapply bit.
a painstakingly knit ruffly bit of green, beaded extravagantly with tiny gold-toned brass beads on the cast-on end. This is meant to be the leaf part of a pineapple reticule knit on thread that is 0.325 mm wide and needles that are 1mm wide. The beads on the cast-on are 2.5mm wide.

It currently features 3 hues of green — a pale delicate gold green, a leaf green, and a dark mossy green. There will be a 4th green, a rich green-brown hue, to denote the base of the leaves.

@franklinhabit.bsky.social Five rows into MC of the pineapple.
A set of US #00000 (1mm) steel knitting needles holding a very curly lace pattern that will knit up to make the stalks/leaves of a delicate pineapple retinue. It is placed against an Apple keyboard for scale and a good dozen stitches fits in the width of one keycap.

In case you were wondering about what colors I arrived at after hand-dyeing a bunch of silk thread: This is the assortment.
Eight huggy spools and one badly-wound thread spool holding 200 yards each of shining silk thread, all hand-dyed different colors with acid dyes.

@franklinhabit.bsky.social 3/4 of the way through the first pattern row.
WIP shot of what will eventually be a historically accurate pineapple reticule. It is presently 320 beaded stitches cast onto 4 1mm (US 00000) knitting needles, placed against a printed knitting pattern and an Apple keyboard for scale.

"In the same fleeting moment thou must live, die, and know". aka: knitter's hubris coming right up.
A set of 00000US (1mm) carbon fiber knitting needles beside a single spool of pearl-stringing thread, now dyed a slightly variegated light green. Someone is attempting a project that may very well drive them insane. Because they have to cast on 320 stitches of that... and bead every single one.

OK, I lied. Here are three of the silk spools I dyed. Yes they look like adult novelties but I can't seem to wind a crisp hard-edged spool like those bobbin winder machines can. I have five more skeins of the same thread drying and one more in shipping.

How it started vs how it's going.
A very small black-and-white kitten sleeping on a bed, with a human hand held up to him for scale. He has surprisingly big mitten paws, though, which foreshadow his adult size. Two cats sleeping on top of a reptile terrarium. (The reptile in question does not care about the cats being there).

The cat on the left is black-and-white and HUGE. Massive. Not fat, just very large. The cat on the right is a normal-sized orange-and-white cat, and he has placed his paws on his companion.

They are both lying on their sides in mirrored poses.

One of the weirdest things with my posts about cursive and fountain pens is... the discovery that there are cursive supremacists out there? Look, just because I like writing in cursive occasionally doesn't mean I'm a cursive supremacist. There are so many reasons why I opt not to use it at times.
A little ring-bound notebook with the sentence "I'm no cursive supremacist but sometimes my handwriting looks like this after an afternoon of manual labor. Which is why I print for legibility." written in a mix of cursive and printed hand, with a fine-point fountain pen in oxblood-colored ink.

I'm going to need a citation for that, as I am going by this:
Cursive handwriting developed into something approximating its current form from the 17th century, but its use was neither uniform, nor standardised either in England itself or elsewhere in the British Empire. In the English colonies of the early 17th century, most of the letters are clearly separated in the handwriting of William Bradford, though a few were joined as in a cursive hand. In England itself, Edward Cocker had begun to introduce a version of the French ronde style, which was then further developed and popularised throughout the British Empire in the 17th and 18th centuries as round hand by John Ayers and William Banson.

Poundcake says "let me at her, I'm not even scared of cats."
A little yellow leopard gecko climbs the side wall of her vivarium without a care, fully aware there is a cat staring at her from above. The cat is frustrated that she is not scared of him. She knows it. A better picture of the little yellow leopard gecko named Poundcake, without her cat brother in the frame. She has a little speckly head which is why her name is Poundcake. Peach cobbler at my place today. I have one of these and half of a similar one left. Bring your own bowl and spoon and I also have ice cream for as long as it lasts.
A homemade peach cobbler rests, warm and sticky and crumbly, in a large aluminum pan. It is made with a cornmeal pâte brisée shortcrust, and the topping is crumbled on top streusel style.

The peach slices peek through the crumble, and a lascivious bubbling of hot thickened peach juice seeps temptingly through the top.

It smells ambrosial.

Here, timeline cleanse. Extremely contented gecko leg stretch.
A leopard gecko rests comfortably in a miniature slate cave. Her bright yellow back is partially visible in the aperture of the cave, as is her bright orange tail. Her lower right leg sticks straight out in a contented and relaxed stretch, her little toes spread out. Her soft skin is delicately bumpy, with rows of bigger bumps around the circumference of her thick, healthy tail.

There is an aloe to the left of her, a crassula to the right, and a thermostat probe resting on the top of her cave. The thermostat it is connected to controls the heating lamps above that part of the tank.

News is scary. Politicians are insane where I am. Here's a picture of a dog snuggling a half-grown kitten. Two of them. Timeline cleanse!
A reasonably large, velvety American Staffie mix named Rosie is cuddling a tall, long, rangy kitten named Garbanzo. Rosie's fur is very short and neat and sleek, and she's an appealing blue-and-white coloration with soft light brown eyes, a cold nose, and a happy wag for everybody.

Garbanzo's fur is fluffy but dense and short. He has a lean angular build and a narrow face and might have Oriental Shorthair ancestry. He has a loud, musical meow and loves to put his paws on the people he likes.

They are both lying on a queen size human bed with red cotton sheets. Rosie has Garbanzo tucked against her belly, under her front left leg. Her muzzle rests gently on his head and neck. Another picture of the previous pair Rosie and Garbanzo snuggling.

This time, the sheets on the human bed are blue. Rosie is lying on top of her dog bed on one side of the bed, and Garbanzo is lying where the human would sleep normally. They are both sleeping on their sides and their noses are touching even in slumber.

They look very content and comfortable, and clearly love each other.

Ah I finally got a picture of Garbanzo and Beancat so people can better compare sizes.
Two cats napping on top of a heated reptile terrarium. For anyone worried about the leopard gecko in the terrarium, she is sleeping peacefully as well, unconcerned about the cats.

Bean, the bigger cat, is black-and-white. Garbanzo, the smaller cat, is orange and white.

Garbanzo weighs about 11 pounds... and he is a little less than half of Bean's size. Bean weighs close to 30 pounds. Bean is a big boy.

Since a few of you are enamored of my cat Bean, here's a comparison of his kittenhood to his adult size.
A small black-and-white kitten lies blissfully asleep on a bed. A human hand is positioned along his back to indicate how small he is. His big mitten paws hint at future growth.

He has speckly toebeans. That same kitten now fully grown, is lying against a 2l soda bottle. He is twice its length and 2 and a half times its width. He is simply massive, and his head seems to grow out of brawny shoulders because his neck is just that muscular.

(He is an absolute sweetie.)

Finally got a good comparison picture of the both of them.
A pair of cats hanging out on top of a reptile vivarium. One of them is a cow cat, the other one is orange and white. The cat in the front is Bean, an absolutely huge cat, and the other one (who weighs 11 pounds) is Garbanzo, a relatively typical specimen of the kind.

Bean is at least twice Garbanzo's length.

Oh and here is a good photograph of my handsome Bean son.
A simply enormous cow cat named Bean has taken up a significant portion of the width of a FULL size mattress. Not a twin, a full. He has stretched himself out on his side, displaying his soft, incredibly fuzzy belly afro and his massive paws. He looks sagacious, gentle, and comfortable, and will let you pet his belly a little bit.

That is a 2l soda bottle.
A huge, massive, simply enormous cow cat lies on a daybed. Beside him, for scale, is a two liter soda bottle. He is half its length when curled up in loaf configuration.

His name is Bean. His fur is very soft once you get past his long guard hairs. If you pet him he will lick you back with his raspy tongue. He meeps instead of meowing.

I have two problems with the cats. One: any attempt at putting up a cat tree is foiled as Beancat breaks cat trees with his mighty buttbutt. Two: Fucklet is an escapist and makes breaks for the outside world every time we open the door to get deliveries or whatnot. So I built a cat cage.
An orange-and-white cat is merrily rubbing his face over the interior of a six-foot tall cat cage that has been set up to be an inside-out cat tree.

The wire platforms have been lined with cardboard as a temporary measure while it undergoes renovations, but there is food and water within, beds, toys, and a hammock. Also a large shark-shaped cat cave.

The bottom door is wide open.

Bean has discovered he can warm his toebeans on the reptile heat lamp. I don't know if you can see it from this angle, but Poundcake is in her slate "cave" soaking up the heat from the lamp as well.
A very large black-and-white cow cat lounges luxuriously on top of a reptile vivarium, his back pawbeans pressed up against the dome fixture that holds the heat/uv lamp for the leopard gecko below.

This, my friends, is Bean. He's about 25 pounds on a good day. He is longer than a 2l soda bottle and that was before he stopped growing. And Bean continued growing until a little past his second year. This year. (He's a March kitten as best as we can estimate.)

This enchanting creature is Poundcake.
A yellow leopard gecko named Poundcake emerges from a humid hide built to look like a gecko-sized hobbit home. There's even a wee door with tiny dollhouse hinges, a cork roof with a loft, and a piece of slate for a porch.

Barley and millet grass grows out of leaf litter around the cottage, and the bug dish next to the cottage is empty and waiting to be filled... which is what Poundcake has come out of the cottage for. Feeding time!
