If I drew Daisuke and Ken as Orpheus and Eurydice; would that be anything?

So y’all remember my “emotional support Oboro” that I was really hyped about? Yeah… guess it’s just not happening… @sciquatic.bsky.social is currently ghosting/stringing along their kickstarter backers on a $15,000 project.

Exactly! Like I talked to Sci MULTIPLE TIMES about that appointment; which is now coming up, btw. I had a Kofi goal set up which they retweeted and everything!

October and it was delivered in January and is sitting next to me RIGHT NOW. All the while; I’m still waiting on my Oboro plushie 🙃🫠

It’s the fact that it’s been ✨two years✨. They’ve also nuked their Discord which was the main source of communication; aren’t responding to messages; and have basically gone completely radio silent. To put it in perspective; I independently commissioned a weighted plushie last June; paid it off in

It's just super disappointing because I really loved the two fantasy au plushies I got from their first Kickstarter and I was really looking forward to these. I don't even want a refund (that money is two years gone). I just want the plushies. And communication, for fuck's sake.

We’re trying. It’s been a strugglebus though. That’s why we’re making as much noise as we possibly can at this point.

I was also one of the people burned in this Kickstarter; and it’s super sus. I ordered one of their proposed Oboro plushies as a comfort item for medical appointments (which they knew and acknowledged). Sci was constantly saying how excited they were for me to get the plushie too.

I've emailed repeatedly just asking where the plushies physically are--because one was supposed to be done in April 2024. No response for months. The email Sciquatic provided for contact is a black hole that no one ever replies to.

Sciquatic got over $15k from this Kickstarter. Not sure how much more from the website sales. They shut down the Discord used for communicating with all backers in February 2025 after people started complaining about how there were no updates and minimal responses to refund requests.

I ordered a plushie last July (2024) that arrived yesterday. I ordered two plushies last August (2024) that are on their way now. I ordered two plushies from Sciquatic in July and August 2023(!) and not only are the plushies not here, but we haven't gotten a production update since July 2024.

“Tell me about it, stud” Seeing Ken and Daisuke in their new clothes in the Adventure Beyond PV gave me MAJOR Grease vibes; so I decided to do something about it! I plan on working on Daisuke’s half this week! #Digimon #DaiKen

I can't stress enough that if you ever want a specific image made, you can commission any of the thousands of talented artists on here for a fair price, they'll produce something infinitely better than a computer, you'll possess something truly original, AND you'll have helped a person's livelihood.

Never hesitate to tell an artist that you liked their stuff. I had someone tell me, unsolicited, that they dig my writing today and I want to go write a billion words now.

Hey, artists, in case you were wondering if your work matters: I'm a scientist working on climate change and biodiversity, and I would not be who I am today without The Lorax, The Secret of NIMH, Watership Down, The Last Unicorn, and The X-Files. I know I'm not alone. Thank you for all you do.

The real answer is that art does not inherently need to be made with suffering involved and you don't need to "suffer" for your art for it to be good but some really good art has been made while under incredible duress which is why we need to build a machine that runs on blood and cannot be shut off
