The MLS never gets into popular consciousness. And it's a sustained successful league. So to apply that to a one off game, not surprising it got 0 coverage really. I think this means nothing for the RWC. We love a big event, and I think with decent marketing behind it people will get into it.

To be honest I think that's ok. If we compare the recent soccer world cup to the day to day coverage for the MLS(arguably our 5th most popular league)it's night and day. The world cup dominated sports coverage and broke into mainstream news. It was dominating non-sports people's conversations.

I am a rugby fan who lives in Baltimore. Went to the game. It got decent local coverage, but still struggled to break through a very crowded sports calendar. My sports obsessed MiL said "oh yeah I saw something about that" when she heard I went. As for national coverage? I saw 0.
