Daughter Dearest just sent this to me with the instruction, “Find the AI oopsie.” It’s worth the hunt (description and answer in alt).
A cozy Hallowe’en scene. A pit group sofa, covered with blankets and pillows (and one sleeping cat), takes center scene. It wraps around two sides of a square coffee table; the table sports books, mugs, candles, pumpkins, and a plate of cookies.

The left wall is one huge bookshelf, with lots a candles, a cute ghost, and a sign reading “Pumpkin Spice Better Days Ahead.” I thought that might be it at first, but there’s more.

At the rear is a huge picture window, looking out at a rainy rustic village and low mountains in the distance.

On the right is a wood stove, and the location of the “oopsie.” The top of the stove is covered with candles and a pumpkin, which you might think would melt in this location, but that’s not the big one. The stove door is glass, showing a merry fire inside. Above the door is a lettered banner.

The banner reads “Trick or Teat” [sic].

Meanwhile, Mason & his gf’s stepdad painted the Miata rims, trunk, and new back panel. It looks better than I first expected; Mason used an AI rendering to show me what it would look like, and that helped me sign off on it. Now watch him end up at Georgia Tech. 🤪 (1/2)
1992 Miata, from the right rear. The main body is (faded) red, with a black trunk and rear panel. The plastic OEM panel had long shattered, and we replaced it with an aluminum aftermarket panel. The soft top is also (faded) black. The passenger door is open, and Masons legs are sticking out, feet on the ground.

Speaking of “rizz,” the dough only half-filled the pan not an hour ago.
A stoneware loaf pan sits on a kitchen island. The dough has risen nearly as high as the pan, meaning it’s now half again the height of the pan.

Hey all! After a weekend being outside in 90°F+ weather at Mason’s soccer tournament, I’m hoping for a quiet day in the A/C. But it was worth the trip:
Mason is standing before a white background, hand in pockets, wearing a soccer jersey and a medal stamped “CHAMPIONS.” His face and neck are sunburned, which might explain why he’s not smiling. (But I am.)

There’s a “family fun fair” at the park in town this evening. Lots of booths, and they’re going to run a movie at dusk. Charlie, he’s happy to sit and people-watch.
Charlie is looking away from the camera and looking at people down the way. We’re sitting on a bench along the walkway, and at least a dozen booths are visible in the background.

Miya turns her water dispenser sideways when it needs a refill. Pretty clever, especially for an orange cat. I think the other orange cats returned her spare brain cells. #CatsOfBluesky

I’ve got a similar one from April 2021. Mason is the one kicking it. I know it was in the second half, because back then he played goalie in the first half and go up front for the second half. As he moved to a more advanced league, he’s goalie full-time now.
Mason (in green) launches a line-drive kick at head level. An opposing player (in blue) appears to cringe as the ball flies toward him (I think it missed though).

A splash pad is a more elaborate version of running through the sprinkler in the back yard. It has a bunch of different ways to spray (or dump) water on people who want to cool off & play in the water. Like a pool, water gets reused.
Aerial view of a splash pad. About 20 kids can be seen in the wet circle, with at least as many kids & adults around it. The pad area is encircled with benches so adults can sit and watch the chaos. An adjacent pavilion provides shade.

Cool. My wife runs the family cattle farm, and gets mineral tubs for the cows. So we end up with a bunch of 20gal plastic tubs… I drill a few drain holes, layer an inch of gravel, 6” of GA clay, then fill with garden soil. They work well.

I decided to taste-test one of these little hooligans, to see if they’ll be suitable for the hot sauce I’m making tomorrow, and it passed. Literally. Two hours later, it treated me to a “ring of fire.” I have plenty of backup peppers if I don’t have enough. Even the jalapeños are hot as blazes.
A red “garden salsa” pepper in my hand, one of the garden goodies. It’s about 2” long, if you include the stem. Two containers peek out from behind my hand: the one above has tomatoes and green peppers; below is a variety of hot peppers.

Morning all! And Coffee Day is any day ending in Y. The hornworms are terrible this year, but the garden is still doing well. Yesterday, I picked a bunch of tomatoes that were split and/or chewed on, cut off the yuck spots, and made a quart of pasta sauce with basil from the garden.
A quart jar, filled to the brim with yellow-ish pasta sauce. The small green spots are flecks of basil leaves that didn’t purée. It wasn’t yellow until I hit it with the immersion blender.

Dated, dark-stained cabinetry sits below a white tile countertop, and supporting a clutter of pots and appliances, in the unfocused background.

I pulled a bunch of tomatoes that had bug-chewed spots and cracks. Instead of chucking them, I cut off the bad spots and started some pasta sauce. Tomatoes and basil came out of the garden today.

Wife had been complaining about the new fridge leaking water, but we don’t have the ice machine hooked up. The drawer wasn’t closing all the way on the left, due to ice buildup along that side. I used a cordless heat gun & a butter knife to get it out. Weird at FAR Manor is normal, BUT… (1/6)

More:
Tweet from NWS Atlanta: “Here's a generic timeline & of how we expect the weather to evolve today over all of north and central Georgia. Impacts will be felt first over western Georgia and spread east as the rain and embedded thunderstorms move across the state. #gawx”

The timeline shows peak flash flood risk between 11am today and 6am tomorrow, highest risk between 2:30pm and 1am. Peak severe threat is between 11am today and 5am tomorrow; highest between 1pm and 1am. Wind threat from 2pm today and 9am tomorrow; highest between 5pm and 4am.

Gonna be interesting today.
Tweet from NES Atlanta: “The remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur will bring a risk for heavy rain to much of the area on Thursday. Several inches of rain are possible and could lead to flash flooding, especially in low-lying and poor drainage urban areas. #gawx”

The map shows a moderate (40%) flood threat for a tongue roughly bounded by Villa Rica, Atlanta, Macon, Americus, and Columbus. It extends WSW into central/southern Alabama and the Florida panhandle. The rest of GA, AL, and about half of SC, are under a slight (15%) flood threat.
