It will probably be an accurate representation of the actual study, as in the organizers pushing the guards to behave in ways that give them the results they wanted.

The moment the Ottawa Titans won game 3 of their championship. Being in the front row with a sold-out stadium was another amazimg experience. #ottawa
An Evansville Otters player striking out in the top of the 9th inning. With two outs already and the Ottawa Titans leading, this call marks the end of the game.

But it was really important for 2.0 to expand the Redblacks stadium while shrinking the seating for teams like the Charge. Brilliant financial planning.

My personal guess on Ben's "not giving clues" line is that the movie does give you clues, but often doesn't verbally spell out those clues or that it's even giving you them. Someone only paying attention to the literal description of what's on screen won't notice any of that.

I wonder if it's a shorts thing? If shorts get less per view, but those sites assume the long-from ad rates for all views, then those numbers would be way off for a channel that mostly does shorts.

Since I've participated in the past, I want to state publicly that I am not participating in the Inkfort publishing derby this year due to its usage of generative AI. I do not support or use generative AI.

Bayview Station, one month apart. I took the first image because it had a very striking vibe. Thanks to the city, it now looks quite different. #ottawa
April 2026: A stretch of railway track, overgrown and surrounded by foliage. The vegetation is mostly brown due to season, blending with the wood and rusty metal of the tracks. The rails continue toward the camera into an embankment containing the path the photo was taken from.May 2026: The same stretch of rails, from roughly the same position. Almost all of the foliage has been removed, except for a few trees in the far background. The vegetation has greened, but the scene is still mostly brown from the empty dirt. Almost the only green remaining is the plants growing within the tracks, a reverse of the expected ground colour.

I had a bad feeling about where the show was headed when a major part of season 2 centered gay characters in the 80s fawning over Reagan and his administration. (I know the show timeline's AIDS crisis is different, but it's still written by writers from this timeline.)

I had to dig to figure out how I even ended up on that AI Hater blocklist because I haven't said much here, but I'm wearing that block as a badge of pride. (Best I can tell I ended up on that list because I liked a quote tweet of a founder post. Literally, that's it.)

I somehow managed to get the last ticket in this theatre for the TADC finale on premiere night, and I could not be more excited. And also completely dreading whatever psychological horrors await us in that finale.

The fact this only hitting the news now makes me concerned they've already decided on a shutdown, and this PR is just to build consent for it.

The praise for Ottawa's LRT improving turned ironic fast, since the line is indefinitely incapable of running full peak service because around two-thirds of the entire fleet is out of service from design defects.

And if you do spend years refining the "perfect" thing, that doesn't even mean it will be "good" because you've probably gotten so lost in your own head you may have lost sight of what it actually needs, while neglecting technical foundations you would otherwise learning by doing more things.
010
Farengeto @farengeto.bsky.social · 26/01/2026
Perfect is always the enemy of good. You can spend years endlessly refining the same thing, chasing the impossible dream of perfection. Or in the same time you could have put out any number of projects, each giving valuable insight on how to improve the next one.

Even if the problem was exclusively the tracks, it's not like tearing them all up to accommodate the existing trains was ever going to realistically be the solution.
020
Farengeto @farengeto.bsky.social · 23/01/2026
Regardless of whether the problem is the rail or the train it's been almost five years since the need for a redesign of the wheel assembly was identified, yet it feels like we're no closer to getting a resolution to that.

Also, canonically, the entire reason they're villains is because the abandoned the truth of the one true god - who is shown to exist - to embrace fire and brimstone, with the most "atheist in a Christian movie" origin story. I almost wouldn't be shocked if Cameron made a cult out of this.

I think my enjoyment of these movies is almost inversely proportional to how much they resemble real cultures. Alien culture unlike anything we've seen? Cool worldbuilding. Fire people behaving like the stereotype of the "godless Indian savage"? Very uncomfortable in the theatre.

"On-street parking, except at very specific times" is in practice just "on-steeet parking full-time, unless you bring an army of tow trucks in." It only takes one bad driver to stop making it a transit lane.

This is the same guy who wrote an essay about how the Rwandan genocide was fabricated to make Canada look good, so the credibility bar is already low. But also, if it's not him, failing to claim your name on a major social media platform as a political candidate is really dropping the ball.

One Year Later #ottawa #pride
A Canadian government office during Pride week in Ottawa, with a freshly painted Pride crosswalk and a very large pride flag hanging from the upper floors of the building. Two flagpoles have a Canadian flag and a pride flag flown on them, respectively. The same office building during Pride a year later. The giant pride flag is missing, and the pride crosswalk is worn and faded. The grass is now yellow and withered.

I’m back! I saw your messages on here & elsewhere—thank you all <3. I’m deeply disappointed in @bsky.app moderation; equating pushback against people like JKR with the harm they cause to trans ppl only enables more violence. I’ll talk more soon but even a day away from social media has been healthy.

The more articles I see about Bluesky, the more it feels like an industry psyop because they see a site being moderately successful while having basic tools for limiting hate speech, and seethe at the notion someone could exist happily without constantly debating fascists.

90% of "free speech" discourse seems to just be "you need to let me call you more slurs without consequence." And if you're a minority you better be prepared for *every* one of those conversations to be debating your existence in society.

My one UI hot take: Dark mode has killed good light mode design. Our interfaces used to actually have colour and contrast in there. Now that dark mode is the default and everything is shades of black, many designers just do a lazy invert for light mode and make everything blindingly solid white.
