#SumLuv Day 30! What's next after finishing up edits for OSaS is writing the second book in the series! The selkie saga series will hopefully be a trilogy of interconnected standalones. I'm outlining/drafting the plot and characters now 👀🦭 Tldr: more selkie romance stories are on the way!

#SumLuv Day 29! Question: Do you take inspiration from your own life when writing romance? (i.e. memories, past experiences, etc.) Do people in your life influence/inspire certain characters in your story?

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 28! HEA is indeed necessary for OSaS! Selkies deserve all the happy endings!!!🦭💖 HEAs are always part of the deal for me😎 (Unless I'm writing horror, my stories will always have either HEAs or at least bittersweet endings!)

😅😊 It's my upcoming romantasy novel, Of Steel and Sealskin! (It's about a selkie who enters a marriage of convenience with a war hero to get her sealskin back!) 😎⚔️🦭

#SumLuv Day 27 The action/adventure in "Of Steel and Sealskin" is like a blade: direct, sharp, and intense ⚔️ And the romance takes this shape:

#SumLuv Day 26! This is the first one that came to mind! POV: Ronan is about to confess his deepest, darkest secret...

1101

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Tristan is Annora's former lover. He discovers that Ani and Ronan are betrothed and it's basically his villain origin story... 🫨😬😧😡

030

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 25! I agree; jealousy can be a perfectly healthy emotion in a relationship. Communication is key, of course. We see brief moments of Ronan's jealousy, and he's always forthcoming with how he feels. Jealousy plays a huge role in the story with another character, however... Tristan! (1/2)

💖I'm excited to share more 👀 September has more updates/news incoming... 😎stay tuned!

omg yes! I am so excited!!! 😭😭

#SumLuv Day 24! Currently, I am reading The Serpent and the Wolf by Rebecca Robinson and Dead Emma by Sylvia Morrow! My next read will be Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Cary! (I impulse-bought the subterranean press special edition and am so excited!!!)

150

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 23! Annora and Ronan's dynamic is like a cross between Claire and Leon from RE2, and Anakin and Padmé from SW 🤔😌

290

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 22/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 22 Well, I'm married. I already found my soulmate 💖✨ But I think if Ani and Ronan were to make their way to our world, they would stick together. They would stick together in every world, universe, life, etc. I believe there are things Ronan and my hubs have in common though (inspo)🤍

030

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 21 Ronan definitely falls first *and* he falls harder! Annora yearns more—for her freedom, her sealskin, the ocean, and for Ronan, of course! (Selkies and yearning go hand in hand🦭) 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

130

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 20! Snippet from chapter 27! Rated PG: implied sensuality, nothing explicit... (Later, in the same scene, it's very much rated R) Annora and Ronan's wedding night begins innocently enough...✨💖💒

290

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 19 Hmmm 🤔 Annora and Ronan would get along with my friends just fine😎 Vesper is a little more reserved, but she socializes well enough! I don't think my friends would like Percival because he's pretentious and very classist :/ Still, his antics would make for quite the eventful evening!

030

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

#AwesomeCharacters Annora: 🪉 Vesper: 🎹 Ronan: 🎸 (he's a little too punk rock for the fancy classical instruments) Percival: 🎷 (smooth but evil)

130

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 18 OOF. When drafting OSaS, I think I kept about 50% of the plot/storylines that I have now. Most of the edits/changes were about the conflict surrounding the "magic-is-a-crime-in-Veremor" debacle. But the romance has stayed consistent! (Bonding>>>Lust)🤍 Don't worry, there's spice😉

050

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 17! Annora and Ronan share similar experiences/trauma. He's older than her by a few years but both are hardened in relatable ways. As a captive selkie, Annora yearns for freedom. When Ronan was in the royal army, he too yearned for freedom. It goes back to shared values/plight. ⚔️🦭

181

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

they have shared values and are united in their fight for freedom.

030

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 16 Annora and Ronan's chemistry is seen through their magical bond—and also in the novel's quieter scenes. They dance, they share a bath, he holds her at night🤍 Ronan offers protection and comfort. Annora is headstrong in her loyalty and support. Their love languages are different but

#SumLuv Day 14! Pitch day! Here goes: My novel is a romantasy inspired by selkie folklore, in which a captive selkie enters a marriage of convenience to reclaim her stolen sealskin—but her new husband, a famed war hero, has plenty of secrets of his own 🦭⚔️👀 *Drama*!!!

3285

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 13/08/2026

(2/2) Ronan gets arrested... BUT Annora is determined to rescue him! Nothing shall keep them apart! *shakes fist*

161

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 13/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 13 I don't want to get too spoilery, but Annora struggles with revealing that she's a selkie, mostly because magic is a crime in Veremor. She reconciles her feelings for Ronan with her desire for freedom and reclaiming her sealskin—but it's no cakewalk. Later in the story... (1/2)

2101

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 12 (Aside from being fated mates, having a magical bond) Annora is drawn to Ronan's strong sense of conviction and his devotion. Whatever he sets his mind to, he gets it done 💪🏻 Ronan is drawn to Annora's kindness and altruism. Despite her circumstances, she does her best to stay hopeful!

150

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 11! If we treat it like a drinking game, then the explicit scenes in OSaS would get the reader nice and wine drunk 🍷 And if you enjoy intimate scenes where the MMC prioritizes female pleasure above all else then you're getting absolutely plastered 🥴🍾🥂🍹🍸🍺

150

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 10! There's no specific song mentioned in the story per se. BUT Annora plays the harp🪉and Ronan is like 🎶🕺🏻🎵 It's very fancy ✨

080

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

I'm very particular/picky when it comes to horror! (Books, movies, etc.) But I do appreciate how some horror stories explore deeper themes like trauma, grief, guilt, and coming of age to name a few!

020

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

👀👀👀 pls tell me when/if you find it!!!! 🦭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

120

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

It would be difficult to change OSaS from fantasy to horror 🥴 The changes would be drastic overall, and it would probably be less romantic? The funniest subgenre to swap with would definitely be comedy. OSaS would be so awkward as a rom-com lol

040

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 9 I've imagined OSaS as a horror romance, with the selkie folklore part of the story focusing more on ⚔️vengeance⚔️ than yearning for freedom/love/etc. One day I will write a horror/romance novel about a selkie, but in a modern setting and with themes of generational trauma BUT I digress!

371

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 8 Fantasy is the subgenre of my current WIP novel! I like combining the magical and folklore elements to the story. Selkie folklore is about yearning... which is perfect for romance! 🦭🤍🪉✨⚔️

361

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 7 Favorite tropes! 🤍marriage of convenience 🤍friends to lovers 🤍only one bed 🤍opposites attract 🤍forced proximity 🤍hurt/comfort 🤍knight/princess 🤍childhood friends 🤍forbidden love 🤍love triangle And many more lol but those ones come to mind first🤔

190

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 06/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 6 I love writing about alternate universes. In OSaS, the kingdom of Veremor is the main setting. It blends medieval/regency vibes (GoT x Bridgerton). Writing this setting encouraged me to do some research, but since it's an AU I have the privilege of blending the parts that I like most!

051

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 5 I don't remember the first one I ever read 🤔 BUT I believe I started with Jill Shalvis's novels, specifically The Wildstone series! I recommend her works for those who enjoy contemporary romance 📚

060

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 4 In OSaS, Annora and Ronan are attracted to each other when they first meet but it's their bond that draws them together (fated mates)! Not love/lust at first sight, more like curiosity/intrigue. The first time Ronan sees Ani she's playing the harp. He's impressed but also smitten 🪉

190

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 3 I like meet-cutes! And meet-awkwards! I usually write them in fanfics, not so much in my original stories. Take my resident evil fics for example. I make Claire and Leon get stuck on a ferris wheel together. In another one, Claire flirts with him to avoid a speeding ticket. Etc. 😎

060

A. Collie ✨ @fancymuffin.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

#SumLuv Day 2! The romantic leads in OSaS are: 🦭Annora Edvards, a captive selkie✨ ⚔️Ronan of Agerton, a war hero turned bounty hunter with magical abilities of his own. The plot hinges on their marriage of convenience but plenty of drama unfolds before and after they say 'I do.'

Annora, a selkie, and Ronan, a mysterious swordsman on their wedding day

#SumLuv Day 1 ✨ Hello! I'm Angie! Currently, I'm finishing the manuscript for my debut romantasy OF STEEL AND SEALSKIN 🦭 I've been writing since the 1900s, everything from short stories to fanfics. My preferred genres are romance, sci-fi, horror, and fantasy! I love doggos and selkies and muffins!🧁
