Not much in the way of astrophotography lately, but did capture some rocket launches and capsule reentries ✨🚀 #rocket #photography

SpaceX Falcon 9 takes to the skies with NROL-57 from Vandenberg AFB 🚀🔭

A rocket’s bright engine plume streaks across the night sky, revealing clouds of exhaust interacting with itself, while stars trail slightly in the background.

I really appreciate the response on this one, as you can see I went through some trials and tribulations to get the shot! 🔭

My telescope wearing my jacket to prevent the spotty showers from reaching its electronics!

HDR composite of last week’s lunar eclipse. Not my favorite work ever, but it is technically art, so i’m sharing regardless. #astrophotography 🔭

Here is the full resolution close up of Mars:

Mars. Very blurry, but some details like polar ice caps can be made out.

Between finals I’ve been starting to work on a photorealistic lens flare based on photography from space. Here’s a test render: #blender 🔭

Lunar transit This render is based off the famous image from NASA’s DSCVR EPIC camera, taken from a million miles away, with visible offset in the RGB channels on the moon. This is due to the moon’s motion. #blender #b3d 🔭

Render showing the moon crossing over the face of the earth, based on the image by NASA’s DSCVR EPIC camera. Zooming in, there is RGB offset on the moon. This is due to the camera taking pictures in the respective color channels with a considerable time gap between each image. When aligned in post, an offset becomes visible due to the moon moving throughout the imaging process.
