how i arrived on bluesky
A screenshot from Beast Wars Transformers episode 15 titled 'The Spark'. We have heroic Maximal Rhinox, a brown and green humanoid robot with gold highlights and a rhinoceros head on his back standing on the bottom left corner. He stares despairingly at a damaged Stasis Pod. The Pod is metallic silver, shaped like a seed, has a translucent blue top and long rectangular copper panel of silver buttons running down one side. Smoke pours around the damaged Pod sitting among a mass of boulders from its perilous crash onto the planet. Bright purple Energon surges across its outer casing, threatening the once and future protoform we know as Airazor within.

🪶 We sure do. Our fastest scout is already on the scene and... oh. Ohhhh.
That's no moon. That's a screenshot from the Beast Wars Transformers season one finale Other Voices Part 2. A blinding blue sphere with bolts of white energy has pulled a total eclipse on the planet's second moon. A blue electrical beam keeps the sphere tethered to the planet. The planet has been plunged into darkness, only broken by whisps of clouds and a handful of faraway stars. Watching it all is heroic Maximal Cheetor, standing on a grass ledge in his beast mode, a large yellow cheetah with black spots and a white underside.

🪶 Yes, especially when it divided our sparks from our bodies.
A screenshot taken of a Youtube thumbnail promoting Beast Wars Transformers sequel series Beast Machines. Much of it is taken up by an almost forward looking shot of Vehicon General Jetstorm. He has a pair of red vertical slits for eyes, a bulbous purple forehead with two antennas jutting out the side, and a balaclava like face obscuring anything resembling a nose or mouth, ending in a pointed chin. A V shaped red collar extends down his torso. Two more extend across his shoulders, ending on deep blue rectangular blocks fitted with aqua exhaust vents. The Beast Machines logo, its bright yellow font surrounded by the combined silhouette of a cog, wings and talons hovers above Jetstorm's right shoulder like a vast predatory bird. Below is the video title: "Beast Machines Why This Darker Sequel Divided Everything". The video has a runtime of 29 minutes and 42 seconds and boasts a viewer count of 39,000 over two days.

🪶 Huh. I thought Scorponok and Terrorsaur might've reached a little higher on the list. There was one time I overheard Megatron furiously refer to both them and Waspinator as Cybertron's biggest bunch of incompetent boobs. That's what you're talking about, right? ...Right?

🪶 Something's out there...
Just in time for World Snake Day and all you kinky Kaamunity fans out there is some new toy photography starring the Hasbro Transformers War for Cybertron Kingdom Airazor figure. Here we have the Beast Wars recon scout kneeling down in her robot mode, left on the dirt and right pointed up. Her right hand rests just above the right knee and the left hand is stretched down, pointed towards what is in toy scale a gargantuan tip of real life snake skin. Airazor's head is also pointed down, full attention on the shedded skin and not the towering green grass and bush which surrounds her. Always a bad sign in horror movies and shows. But at least she hasn't touched it yet, which going by her track record in the cartoon always spelled disaster.

"Verify your age" 🪶 I lived through the Beast Wars, long before humans evolved. Hmm. Or was it escaping Unicron and Scourge 2,000 years ago? Or fighting alongside the Second Generation Autobots in the 1990's? Or soaring over Eukaris in 2015? Or being a pilot on Cybertron 300 years from now? Or...?

🪶 Cybershark would be thrilled by this! And then immediately chase after them demanding a cut in royalties.
One of the first publicity images of the Beast Wars Transformers 30th anniversary Chibi Plushies collection, produced by Reesee and slated for release as blind bags in the Chinese market. The top row has the obvious Optimus Primal, Tigatron and Cheetor. The middle row are Megatron, Airazor and surprise cameo Cybershark. The bottom row are limited edition Leo Prime and Rhinox. None have accessories except Rhinox who is holding tiny copies of his chainguns. All eight characters are rendered in flat colors and designed to look like they're wearing their Beast Modes as onesies. Sort of like those character hoodies which show up on online stores.

My founding fathers
A snippet from BotCon 1998's official highlight video showcasing the Beast Wars Transformers script editors panel, presented in that glorious VHS fuzz. On the left is Bob Forward, a roughly 40 year old male with short black hair and a washed out beige t-shirt. To the right is Larry DiTillio, a roughly 50 year old male with short black hair graying just above the ears, black rimmed glasses and a black t-shirt featuring prints of corona bottles. The pair are seated before a gray cloth draped table, both their arms are crossed and giving wide toothy smiles. Microphones are placed in front of them. A plastic cup sits between DiTillio and a half drunk bottle of Pepsi. Behind them is the gaudiest patterned felt wall imaginable. The event was held at Anaheim Convention Center California, and uploaded by BotCon Video Archive.

🪶 I honestly don't blame Dinobot one byte for hating me. Our rift really was my own fault. When he boasted about what he'd done to his clone, I gasped and called him utterly barbaric. He looked stunned. Then furious. I instantly felt ashamed at my outburst. We stopped making optic contact for ages
Was this the only scene Airazor and Dinobot shared together? We think it was. It's from the season one Beast Wars Transformers episode Before the Storm. Airazor is on the left standing in her black feathered and gold/orange metal robot mode. Both fists are clenched, left pressed against her hip and the right hanging loose. A tense look on her face as she stares away from the fellow Maximal beside her. It's Dinobot. Also in robot mode, a brown and blue figure covered in bone-like chrome details. Both arms are crossed and stares towards the viewer in a perpetual angry huff. He towers over Airazor and just every other character. They're standing on top of the downed Maximal spaceship Axalon while craggy mountain ranges and a dusky evening sky fill their surrounds.

🪶 Happy Motherboard's Day.
Mother's Day themed photography of the War for Cybertron: Kingdom Deluxe Class Airazor toy. Released by Hasbro in early 2021, this action figure is a modern update of the Beast Wars Transformers Maximal, an orange and gold humanoid robot with a peregrine falcon motif. Gray bird wings hang off her back. Small feathers cover her shoulder blades and breastplate. Large feathers stem off the side of her cheekbones and slicked back from her gold beak-shaped forehead. Her face is a purple tint and has glowing green eyes. She stares at the viewer. Mounted on both forearms are a pair of gold missile shaped photon blasters. Her left arm is wrapped around, while the right hand carefully holds the top of, a sliver of cone shaped wrapping paper. The paper is off-white and has printed artwork of green branches and a rose flower. Coming out of the paper's top is a bunch of flowers big enough to rival Airazor herself. The blooming flowers are deep blue and the ones about to bloom are lilac. The nearby sun lightly glistens along two of the open flowers. Behind Airazor is a bush of lush green plants.

"What were you like in the 90's?" The 90's:
The first in a series of twelve pictures recreating the "What were you like in the 90's?" meme but using screenshots from Kenner and Mainframe Entertainment's Beast Wars Transformers. Successive and fitting lyrics to Goo Goo Dolls' hit Iris are captioned along the bottom of each. Starting off is a battered Dinobot from Code of Hero. The valley burns around while he clutches the Golden Disk in both claws, about to use the last of his energy to blast it into oblivion. Lyrics: And I'd give up forever to touch you.Season 3 premiere episode Optimal Situation. Extreme side closeups of Optimal Optimus staring wondrously at his ancestor, the legendary Optimus Prime. Prime's optics light up momentarily as his Spark is safely returned. Lyrics: 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow. The Trigger, Part 2. Sitting in beast mode on the ledge overlooking a lush flying island, Maximal scout Tigatron stares at a passing butterfly. Lyrics: You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be.The Probe. Having destroyed the Maximals' communications array, Predacon leader Megatron laughs triumphantly over the explosion. Both sides remain trapped on the planet and with no chance of Cybertron finding them. Lyrics: And I don't wanna go home right now.

🪶 Nature has always fascinated me. The role each species play in their environment and the affection humans have for them, even going so far to dedicate whole days in their honor. Though when I first heard about World Frog Day, I doubted there are any frogs out there as dangerous as Spittor was.
The packaging art of Beast Wars Transformers character Spittor. This evil Predacon from their Basic Class range was released in 1997 and is drawn in his robot mode. The character transformed into a poisonous blue frog with brown patterns. The artwork was illustrated by Doug Hart. #WorldFrogDay.

This is a safe place! Post a #Superman
Optimus Primal, the heroic Maximal leader from Hasbro and Mainframe Entertainment's 1996 animated hit Beast Wars Transformers. The screenshot is taken from their all but mid-season finale Victory. It shows Primal using his back-mounted Prime Jets, or as they were called in the scripts Primal Jets, to carefully lower the damaged Axalon spaceship down to the ground. This depiction of the character was a cheeky reference to DC Comics hero Superman, down to composer Robert Buckley adding a shamelessly John Williams style uplifting tune to this scene.

QTP with a gif of your favourite pokemon! (wrong answers only)
An illustration of Transformers Armada Mini-Con Nightscream. No relation to Beast Machines Nightscream. Or is there? This black repaint of Street Speed sportscar Oval was fittingly included with the black repaint of Beast Wars Transmetals Airazor. The arts shows him doing a dramatic run towards the reader and was made for Dreamwave Productions' More Than Meets the Eye miniseries. The cityscape background was taken from Armada episode 'Underground'. Sadly we don't know who drew him so it's a tossup between Joe Ng, James Raiz, Rob Ruffolo, Don Figueroa, Jong-Im-Lee, Guido Guidi or even Pat Lee. Colors might've been by Elliot Kravchik, Sigmund Torre, Ray Villanueva or Josh Burcham. Such were the perils of Dreamwave's in-house art style mandates and catch-all crediting system.

Whatever happened to Nightscream? Did Airazor ever reunite with him? Did he ever calm his engines? Perhaps those questions will be explored someday.

🪶 This is fake. No matter which form, Soundwave always loved to exaggerate the size of their superiority.
A photo taken at TakaraTomy's official Transformers Expo held at Yokohama Japan in August 2014. It shows a miraculously not crumbled to gold dust Beast Wars Mutants Soundwave toy. Transformed in bat mode, it's in prototype colors sporting a pink snout and green veiny wing highlights. The chest armor is folded down to stand 90 degrees upright between its legs, and thanks to the angle this photo was taken, makes the toy look incredibly phallic. Like it's showing off an awkward bulging robo erection. In an amazing irony the prototype of Beast Wars Predacon Powerpinch is standing to the right, powerful pincher claws outstretched and ready to give Soundwave the snip.

The iconically infamous or infamously iconic sunset silhouette showdown scene from Beast Wars Transformers season two episode three, Coming of the Fuzors: Part 2. From left to right it's Fuzor Quickstrike, Transmetal Tarantulas, Transmetal Megatron, Fire Ant Inferno, and Waspinator. Of the five pictured, three made it on the list. Inferno was spared because 3H BotCon fiction for Transformers Universe, where he reformatted into a heroic fire chief car and fought alongside new Queen, Optimus Primal. Waspinator is missing as Airazor likely viewed him in the show as an annoyance than a threat. Animorphs big baddie Visser Three and RiD Darkscream made it because toy synergy, while Scourge and Nightbird are copies of their Rise of the Beasts counterparts. Flamewar is a reference to Fun Publications story The Razor's Edge, along with Beast Wars Uprising villain Cicadacon. Hey, this is a multiversal roleplay account after all. If only there had been space to fit Alpha Quintesson from Dreamwave Transformers Energon comic.

🪶 Mind strong. Body strong. Try to find equilibrium.
Toy photography of Beast Wars Transformers character Airazor. Sporting her Hasbro Deluxe Class War for Cybertron Kingdom body, she's standing in a tree. Right hand gripping a small branch and left clenched dramatically by her side. Both robot mode optics are locked directly on the viewer. All the leaves around her have wilted and browned, indicating the photo was taken late autumn if not early winter. The post's text written in-character are homage to British rock band Bush and their hit 'The Sound of Winter'. 🪶 Found an Academy photofile of my old partners. Thanks to Crystal Widow's webs uniting Thunderblast's water, Override's fire, Treadbolt's earth and my air powers, we made a great team. We were formally coded the Watch, Infiltrate and Thwart Crew of Helix, though I quite liked 'W.I.T.C.H.' myself.
A sort of Halloween themed skeet using Transformers to recreate the W.I.T.C.H. cartoon's publicity poster. Why mesh early 2000's female series W.I.T.C.H. with early 2000's female Transformers toys? Why not?
Taking place of Will Vandom is Universe 2003 Crystal Widow. Aside from both being red and purple, Will's powers match the Blackarachnia repaint nicely, and what better way to bind a team than a spider's web? Irma Lair is represented by speedboat Cybertron Thunderblast. Taranee Cook is by Cybertron Override in her fiery GTS repaint. Cornelia Hale is by Energon Treadbolt, trading an earth elemental for an earth moving excavator. Hay Lin is by aerial expert Timelines Airazor from the BotCon Beast Wars prequel. Choosing someone later voiced by Michelle Yeoh as a counterpart for a character of Chinese descent was a happy coincidence.
Thanks to the Wing Saber connection, is this photo set before Beast Wars? Or maybe after? If so, why is it sepia degraded? And do they have different theme songs in America and the United Kingdom?

🪶 What's this?
What's this? Oh an edited publicity photo of an Amazon Kindle Keyboard. All the text has been replaced with Maximal font from Beast Wars Transformers. The heading reads "NEW MESSAGE ALERT" and the bottom "PAGE 1 OF 1". The rest of its text says:

"DEAR AIRAZOR,

I KNOW YOU'RE ALWAYS BUSY THESE SOLAR CYCLES BUT I WOULD LIKE TO CATCH UP WITH YOU. I MISS YOU. I MISS OUR ADVENTURES TOGETHER.

Post a female character you love❤️ 🪶 When we rescued her from the cloning vats, Sonar was more beast than machine. Abrasive at best and abusive at worst, certain Maximals wrote her off as a lost cause. I disagreed and vowed to help in any way I could. It was a nice but sadly way too brief kinship.
Another 'lost' Beast Wars scene taken from the unpublished conclusion of 3H BotCon era comic book Primeval Dawn. A sideways standing Transmetal 2 Sonar nervously asks "But what if I screw up? I'm already a laughing stock". Transmetal Airazor looks over her left shoulder and extends a hand saying "You think I was an expert straight out of the statis pod? I've failed my share of recon missions. But I never gave up. Please don't ever stop yourself from pursuing your dreams". Both female Transformers are about to step through a sliding door into a crimson lit room.

🪶 I, uhh... I'm sorry for the earlier outburst. Whenever that monstrous abomination is mentioned, it chills the energon in my circuitry. Razorclaw and I sadly share a history. It's a repugnant, destructive, insidious and just utterly vile history I'd rather never think about ever again.
Toy photography of Transformers Armada Airazor. Here the Beast Wars Transmetals turned supercon spy is standing upright, arms limp and head tilted back like a marionette. Pulling the invisible strings via their right arm raised above her is Universe 2003 Razorclaw, relishing a triumphant if not blurred snarl. Flames burn around them giving a reddish and hellish hue. To cement the mind control/hypnotism theme, her glowing yellow eyes are a loose homage to Lightkeeper from The Legends of Treasure Island, because why not have two 90's cartoons in one?

Before Rise of the Beasts made a Unicron corrupted Airazor fashionable, Dreamwave toyed with the idea over in their Transformers Energon comics. And months before that, it was a popular theory on alt.toys.transformers. Once you got past the sexist and selfcest comments that her colors 'scream she's meant to be Razorclaw's woman' or being 'quite the mecha Mata Hari' of course.

So how does that portrayal tie in here? When did Airazor fall under Razorclaw's control? Is this the same individual who once fought in the Beast Wars as the noble Tigerhawk? But how could they exist if this account had her survive the events of Other Visits? Will this self-indulgent headcanoning ever be explained? Perhaps. Or perhaps not.

🪶 Hmm. There was that time I went to investigate an energy anomaly in Grid Zeiram. Had Cheetor not been there to fight off those vines, I... dread to think what might've happened to me.
Screenshot taken from the lost Beast Wars Transformers episode 'Other Versions'. Or maybe not. Instead it's a photoshopped 'What If'. Cheetor in his Transmetal body sourced from 'Code of Hero' flies over the Vok infused green valley seen in 'Other Visits: Part 1'. Ahead of him is Airazor in her first season form about to swoop in. The implication being had Cheetor arrived earlier or even been with her the whole time, the Maximal aerial reconnaissance expert might have escaped her grisly fate.

But we're not living in that timeline, thus the writers (and Hasbro) had other ideas.

🪶 ...Razorclaw's returned? THAT Razorclaw?! ... I-it couldn't be. After all these years... I thought... a-and when we... there's no way! That monster can't be back! It just CAN'T! ... S-steady your servos. Cool your processors. Y-you're stronger than this. ... I've gotta find the others!
A literal bird's eye view from the perspective of Beast Wars Airazor, inspired by her optical matrix scanners seen in both parts of 'The Trigger'.

Within her sights stands a modified publicity photo of Razorclaw. As revealed at the SDCC Transformers panel, this Universe 2003 acolyte of Unicron keeps the tradition of being a Tigerhawk repaint (yet no new beast mode battle helmet, booo!), and is due for retail release in 2026.

A win for Universe and purple repaint enthusiasts, but not for this account, whose character RP has ran into this monstrous Maximal in the past.

🪶 World Snake Day, huh? Well I can't think of a better mandalayensian Maximal than Night Viper. Underestimated by enemies but sadly misunderstood by teammates, beneath those scales lays a spark of gold. A shameless Nü-Metal tragic and quite the budding chef, though I wouldn't dare steal her snacks!
Another "memory flashback" to 2001 in the form of toy photography featuring Beast Machines Night Viper. Hidden amongst an over arch of reeds in the setting dusk, they sit triumphant with left knee raised and right leg outstretched. Right arm rests back and the left raised in a jovial greeting to Beast Wars Transmetals Fox Kids Airazor. This technorganic spitting cobra needs no throne, instead the remains of a hapless Vehicon Blastcharge unit will suffice, whose limbs and plasma ultrarockets lay strewn on the ground.

No Transformers were harmed in the making of this photo, drone or otherwise.

🪶 I'm what humans call a 'vegetarian'. Which... yeah, that might sound crazy being part Peregrine Falcon and all, but I know far too well how precious our lives are. Never would I willingly take the life of another being, for sustenance or otherwise. It's a personal choice Longhorn & I bonded over.
When tech specs for Beast Machines Longhorn first made their way online, it created a minor controversy for the regulars on alt.toys.transformers. How exactly would a Transformer be classed a vegetarian, let alone the techno organic version of an already real-world herbivore? This could just be dismissed as another in a string of early 2000's story anomalies, but let's take a closer look.

Transformers back in the G1 days relied on Energon to survive, but could ingest and process other matter if need be. Storybooks and cassettes frequently mentioned guzzling gas and oil. The Insecticons would eat almost anything, plus that one episode where Grimlock caught a fish. When Beast Wars came along, Kenner amped up the characters' appetites to match their biogenetic upgrade. Megatron, Tarantulas, Spittor, Terrorsaur and Blackarachnia among others boasted sinking their fangs/claws into robot, animal and even human hides. The Maximals were far more restrained by comparison like Rattrap chomping on garbage. Or the incident with Dinobot and his clone which we won't go into.

Airazor was something of an outlier among the herbivorous or omnivorous teammates. Before Fuzors and Transmetals blurred the food chain, her notorious bird of prey (Notorious B.O.P.?) beast mode placed her right up there with the most vicious Maximals. An ironic disguise coming from a character renowned for her compassionate nature. There have been a few fanfics and custom tech specs over the decades where she spends downtime fishing or will murder other animals with little regard. Instances like these raise questions whether Airazor would act this way.

From this account's perspective? Unlikely. Chances are the perilous nature of her 'birth' might make her extra empathetic towards the struggles of life, never outright offlining an enemy or animal. If Energon starved, she'd unpack some fruit rations. Is it or would it ever be official? No. But isn't that the great thing about headcanons and filling blanks?

Explain your @... 🪶 Years ago I had to ferry Rattrap to and from a recon mission. When we landed and transformed to robot modes, a group of locals ran over to excitedly shout "Falcon-LAY-Dee! Falcon-LAY-Dee!". Rattrap thought it was hilarious. The short-circuited shoulder he received, not so much.
Rombi di Tuono e Cieli di Fuoco per i Biocombat!

Names come and go. Unless you're a Transformer, in which case they come back. Often slapped on new faces with questionable relevance. The Maximals and Predacons know this in spades, and since then Airazor is no exception, her name appropriated decades later by an evil Mini-Con. This post's story plays it up as quirky and bemusing, but the truth is far more mundane.

The reason this account goes by 'FalconLady' is because... 'Airazor' was already taken. That's it. That's the story. There are ways around this like change a letter or add some numbers, but it was decided to keep the handle 100% accurate to at least one version of her. So what better way than to acknowledge and celebrate the Transformers' global audience by adopting one of Airazor's foreign names.

Aeroblade, Serdacier, Falcúria and Fēi Jiàn were strong contenders. In the end, Beast Wars' Italian dub 'Biocombat' won out. Voiced by Caterina Rochira, this take on Airazor retained the mature tones made famous by Pauline Newstone, while adding extra bird screeches. They did a great job.

'Falcon Lady' fit the bill perfect. She's a Falcon and, at least for this account, a lady. Not much more to say really. The "LAY-Dee" part is accurate to how her name was pronounced in the dub, similar to how early Hasbro documents treated her name as two words with extra emphasis on "RAY-zor".

And yes, Rattrap was fine. The bruise to his ego was far deeper.

🪶 Terrorsaur was pretty "crushed" when we first met.

🪶 You may disguise your features but you can never disguise your intent, Visser Three!
Direct from Hasbro's official fan reveal earlier today, it's the Transformers Age of the Primes Leader Class Onyx Prime. Or is it?

The distinctly centaur form, fiery motif and beastly face? Not a homage to IDW's 'shocking' character origins at all. Clearly this is a pretool for the inevitable Transformers Collaborative Animorphs Visser Three, sneaking in right on time for the 30th anniversary of K.A. Applegate's groundbreaking book series next year.

Designing this digibash was a tightrope. To steer more towards the book and TV series accurate blue skintone, or take Hasbro's path of maroons and yellows? Instead it meets somewhere in the middle. Onyx Prime's organic sculpting retains the traditional Andalite blue. The metallic parts are now more a magenta to hopefully retain that familiar toy design, while distinguish away from Beast Wars Transmetal 2 Megatron, or even an Optimus Prime pallet. The Ultra Class toy's yellow is represented by the wingtips, crossbow highlights and codpiece.

In a way it makes ol' Vissy look armored up, which could work for some modern or even medieval retelling of the Animorphs' adventures. All it needs now is a small Yeerk accessory and this inferno beast is ready for battle.

It's highly unlikely Hasbro will go down a path like this someday, but I'm still keeping my optics on you, "Onyx Prime".

🪶 Aerial Reconnaissance is less a job and more an endurance test. The days are blistering, the nights are bitter, and it can take a deca-cycle before anything happens. Yet I never feel lonely. The thought of returning to base and seeing the smiles on my fellow Maximals' faces makes it all worth it.
A little on the late side for International Family Day, but here are a delightful family portrait of Maximals sourced from the Beast Wars cartoon and divided into four segments.

The top left is of Cheetor smirking as Optimus Primal looks over his shoulder approvingly, as seen in the episode 'Victory'. The top right square belongs to Rhinox, about to recite his "When a Spark goes online, there's great joy" line during the closing moments of 'The Spark'.

As for the bottom left, it's Rattrap defying the other cast members by appearing in beast mode. Another frame from 'Victory', notably the scene where laying on his side and directly facing the viewer with a finger pistol gesture. And it wouldn't be complete without Dinobot, taking the bottom right corner sporting his trademark disapproval sneer early on in 'Fallen Comrades'. Dinobot doesn't smile. Ever. But that's okay. According to him, protoforms can smile but not in public. Dinobots don't smile. They only get snarlier.

It's early on in the Beast Wars and the Axalon is a big ship, so a few Maximal allies weren't available for pictures. Razorbeast is undoubtedly arguing with Wolfang over who's better at infantry duties. Both of whom are immediately snapped back into line by their superior Polar Claw, still smug after his previous victory against fierce personal rival Scorponok. Meanwhile K-9 stands guard outside the ship, nothing getting past that cybernetic snout.

Cybershark and Claw Jaw are busy patrolling the nearby waterways for any Predacon intruders. As is Armordillo, currently on deep desert recon and should be reporting in any cycle now. Then there's Snarl, or as they prefer to go by in later years Tasmania Kid, presently undergoing an intense round of field artillery lessons under the watchful optics of Bonecrusher.

By human standards these Transformers qualify as quite an unorthodox group. Yet Airazor calls them family, no matter who they are or how crazy things get. After all, sometimes crazy works.

🪶 Tobias? Now that's a name I haven't heard in ages. An armada of space slugs invaded Earth years ago, so the Maximals and I teamed up with a group of humans who could morph into animals. That poor kid was going through a lot. I took him under my wing for awhile. I should check in on them someday.
For Transformers collectors, it's natural when young to make that escape with your favourite action figures. Be it reenacting episodes or comics, writing entirely new adventures or just fiddling to pass the time. Corporate licensing standards of storytelling no longer applied in these imaginative struggles, thus anyone from any toy series became key players in our own fantasies.

Who could forget when Rodimus Prime united with She-Ra to banish Shredder's invasion of Ghostbusters HQ? Or in later years, Captain Planet joining the Toxic Crusaders, Biker Mice from Mars, G.I. Joe's Drug Elimination Force and Bucky O'Hare to clean up crime? Anything could happen. Anyone could come crashing in to create the most jumbled yet heartfelt personal multiversal mayhem. It was... fun.

Hasbro's range of Animorphs Transformers toys were a perfect bridge for those of us yearning to expand the Beast Wars roster. And while the cartoon's time travel antics made reconciling their inclusion initially tricky, those early Tech Specs were explicitly clear that at least one version of the Beast Wars took place on present-day Earth. So why not have the Maximals team up with these new human heroes?

Marco becomes fast friends with fellow mischief-making monkey Optimus Minor. Cassie could learn stealth tactics from Wolfang. Jake helps to calm the short-tempered Depth Charge. Rachel and Prowl bond over routine patrols. And then there's Tobias, our dear sweet, long-suffering hawk. Struggling to control his morph was a major character plot in both books and TV series, plus his issues with parental figures, occasional snark and urge to embrace his animal side.

Tobias may be the Animorphs' residential loner, but as Airazor so memorably said back in 'Spider's Game', "Sometimes you can be too alone". She could, and for this writer did, offer emotional support and a wing to lean on when life became too tough for him. And for any of their young allies up against Visser Three's insidious Yeerk invasion.
