Adventures in emailing my professors: "Hi Ms. Smith, I'm in your FYE class, and I'm not sure if I'm doing the High5 strength report right. Is there supposed to be more information than this? I'm not really sure what it means that I'm a "time keeper" or a "catalyst." Thank you!"
A screenshot of the results of an online quiz in the form of a list of strengths. The strengths are philomath, thinker, empathizer, time keeper, and catalyst. There is no further description of what these terms mean.

After class, the girl whose paper I got came up and thanked me enthusiastically for all my feedback. Meanwhile, this is what I got. My four-page essay had not a single mark on it, so the handout contains the totality of feedback from my peer reviewer.
1. Could you visualize the ad without seeing it based on this description? Are there any details you feel should be included or elaborated on?

I could visualize the ad. I think this is very good

2. Is the purpose of the ad clearly stated? Is this a good "nutshell" of what the ad is intended to accomplish? Do you have suggestions for altering this purpose statement?

yes, go more into detail about the purpose.

3. Is the target audience clearly of the ad specified? What else might she need to know about where the ad was found or who it is directed towards?

It is clearly specified, but maybe could add a little more detail

4. Are the strategies used by the ad designer described so Jenny Bell can see their connection to the audience? Is it clear how these strategies are used to achieve the ad's purpose? Are there other strategies the author could discuss or include in more detail?

They are described but maybe go into more detail about different culture [sic] food.

5. Is the report well organized? Is the information grouped in memo format to make it easier for a boss to find specific information? Is it clear who the memo is addressed to? Have all unnecessary or repetitive details and phrases been edited out to make the report concise and sharply focused?

yes, it is well organized, yes it is grouped good.

6. Has the author given a recommendation for the ad company's new campaign that shows they understand the competitor's ad (the
one being analyzed) and have interpreted what this means for the company in order to give a clear suggestion as to how they should
proceed? Do you have other ideas the author could include in their suggestion, or mark areas where the author could make cuts or changes?

yes and I think it was a good recommendation.

8. Is the language non-sexist/unbiased? Have all words been spelled correctly and all details reviewed carefully? Mark on the draft any areas you see where the grammar or structure need more attention or more general details ar…

Today's walk is brought to you by me briefly panicking because I thought someone left their tuxedo cat outside and it expired from the heat. It's a track suit jacket. Ah no, es un elote...
A photo of a grassy lawn alongside a commercial building. There is a stone dining table surrounded by stone benches to make a small outdoor eating area. On the ground beside the benches is a black and white shape that looks for all the world like a cat or small dog lying motionless in the grass. Upon closer inspection, the shape is actually a discarded jacket knotted up into a deceptively animal-like shape.

Going through some old photos, I found the time in 2015 I saw some street performers consisting of a guitarist, a percussionist, and a guy whose job it was to stand there and judge them, I guess?
A photo of some street performers playing music against the wall of a building. Two men on stools, one playing guitar and one playing a bongo drum, with an amp and some sound equipment. A third man is standing two feet away, watching them with his arms crossed. The same photo pulled back to reveal that an audience is watching from a normal distance of ten or fifteen feet and that there's no apparent reason for The Judge to be standing that close.

I set my plate of baby carrots on the sofa while I changed the laundry over, thinking the cats wouldn't mess with it, because what does a cat want with carrots? I came back two minutes later and this fat bastard was sitting on it

I got this creature at the flea market to put on top of my kitchen cabinets because they needed some decor. Her price tag said, "Fancy kitty." I named her Millicent. Just need some plants and a basket or something to set up around her and make her pop
A decorative stuffed cat sitting on top of a kitchen cabinet. The cat has string whiskers, a hand-painted face, and a shiny collar with silky tassels. It's kitschy as hell, but like, in a sophisticated way.

Sure, it's an explosion of chaos, violence, and gore, with horrifying cosmic implications, but in like, a cozy way. Single location, small cast. Practical effects. Makes me feel right at home
The cover of the movie The Void. It depicts a man kneeling, arms raised in prayer, in front of a large triangular opening in blackness. Eerie, bluish-white light pours out of the opening, along with a mass of writhing tentacles.

You think your pet is so smart, and then he notices a decorative ceramic garden bunny in the yard that has been there for eleven (11) months and spends almost an hour staring it down with furious, unbroken eye contact, growling softly ever so often just go let it know it better not start any shit

Happy New Year from the blurry shape sitting silent and motionless next to his food dish in the dark. Like to remind him he had dinner less than 20 minutes ago, reskeet to tell him to quit pouting and come to bed

I hope she has a great time, but for some reason, asking if it was okay to wear a dress at a rave made me think, like, is the dress in question too conservative for clubbing? And now I'm picturing someone doing the Melbourne shuffle in this

We had a huge hailstorm the other week, so when I came home to paper sticking out of my door, I assumed it was an ad for another opportunitistic roofing company. Instead, it was this heartthrob-of-the-week from a '70s sitcom inviting me to celebrate the death of Jesus.
A pamphlet bearing the message "You Are Invited: Memorial of Jesus' Death." Above the message is a painting of a white man wearing a tunic and shoulder sash. He has short, curly, dark hair and a neatly trimmed beard. His face is handsome in a rugged yet approachable way that somehow suggests an aura of the 1970s.

This comment on the Superman post is the only one that should be allowed
A comment from reddit user Kino-Eye: "I have never seen a clearer example of the difference between tumblr and Reddit fandom cultures than the comments of this post about how Superman crushing the train says a lot about his motivations and background being filled with calculations to prove Superman had to crush the train because his flight would speed snap that kids neck. Curative vs Transformative. It's all Thermians/Watsonians all the way down though, that's funny."
