my websites journal has been updated! a really long dark vent. ill include it here in screenshot form. i talk about my experience in the touhou community and being on the receiving end of blatant misogyny cw: rape, pedophilia, abuse, suicide, self harm yuutou.nekoweb.org/journal.html

june 20th, 2026

PLEASE NOTE: this specific journal entry may contain upsetting content. warnings for mentions of rape, pedophilia, abuse, suicide, self harm. this is a vent piece

touhoufest, huh?

what used to be something i really wanted to go to turned into a name uttered in an under-the-breath curse a year ago. i wanted to attend to see all of my friends gathered in one place to have fun, but even without participating it became one of the most isolating topics of my life. im really frustrated with the fact that theyre just letting a man who covered for my abuser stay on their staff. it was probably the last nail in the coffin for me staying in the touhou community as a whole. and the nightmare continues to be ongoing

for the uninformed, that man's online username is spaztique. youve probably seen him around, both literally and metaphorically. he helps with walfas-related groups as well as the walfas station wagon. this is a man that devalued me into the dirt and was one of the people that introduced a bias towards me that othered me from belonging to a community. all of that has already been addressed on my bluesky.

ive talked about him plenty enough, but thats not why im here typing this today. spaztique is just one of many cogs in a machine.

youve probably noticed that ive become a little more averse to being social or open over the years. i talk less, freeze up in vcs, stumble over my words. the experience im going to talk about is the reason for that.

the touhou community, at large, is one of the most creative spaces ive ever seen and participated in. theres fangames, fan art, fan music, cosplay, merch up the wazoo. its this dedication that inspired me to pick up a pencil and learn to draw when i was eight. i was a part of the community space for 15 years as a result of me discovering it so early from niconicodouga memes and MAD culture. it was my creative muse for the longest time. i left this space a year ago barely being able to remember any good as…

About Me: I'm Lein and I have been a Touhou fan and fanartist for 2??? years but have never played a Touhou game... My favourite characters are Patchouli Knowledge and Hecatia! I got into Touhou because I like how simple yet memorable and unique all the character designs are, as well as the lore. I am excited to be a part of the Riverside Wonders Zine as it allows all kinds of creatives to put their own spin on Touhou characters for the support of Palestine. We're back from a short break with another Palestinian theme preview! Today's theme is tatreez embroidery and patterns, which our zine draws so much inspiration from in our contributors' amazing works 💚 Learn about it here with previews from Pumpking (@sunnysiddedup.bsky.social) and Leah!

An infographic featuring two zoomed-in previews by the contributors credited in the post. The left is cosplay and the right is artwork. Both works feature tatreez patterns prominently. The zine's homepage url, THRiversideZine.carrd.co, is on the bottom right.
Title: Tatreez
Content: Tatreez embroidery is one of the most expressive and symbolic visual elements in Palestinian culture. The practice has been passed down by generations of Palestinian women, and each pattern you see comes with its own meaning or story behind it! The patterns are often used to adorn outfits, furniture, and other objects. Tatreez is most popularly stitched onto loose-fitting traditional dresses called thobes, which are then worn by Palestinian women. The sheer amount of designs available is vast and impressive, and we hope you can enjoy the ones we’ve integrated into our zine! Since we can’t possibly cover them all, feel free to check the replies below for a database of tatreez patterns and their meanings!
