Just finished Orbitals and despite the breathtaking retro aesthetic, I have some minor grievances: - Narrative arc needs more fleshing out - Later chapters demand nigh flawless synchronisation - Way too short! I'd love to revisit it with someone who harbours a deeper appreciation for classic anime

Seeing Level-5, a studio that's been historically synonymous with incredible cozy art direction aggressively lean into generative AI is a tough pill to swallow. No way we're ever getting a Ni no Kuni 3 now, Studio Ghibli are very vocal about it (and rightly so) 😮‍💨

Been watching OOT comparison videos, and surely I can't be the only one who hated early 3D graphics? Going from gorgeous 2D sprites to blocky monstrosities was a downgrade. Thank god the GameCube came along and gave characters actual CURVES 🤭

While I dont hate the new Link design I do think something was lost in the translation of his facial features especially. and just for fun its its interesting to compare design decisions I made for a more realistic materials Link to the official one

As someone raised on the magic of 90s anime, Orbitals hits all the right notes. The locked frame rates to mimic retro cel animation, the synth heavy OST, the cozy space opera vibes - what a beautiful love letter to that era and proof the indie scene is in a whole new orbit
