As a cold sub-Neptune planet, TOI-6981 b probably has a hydrogen-rich atmosphere which might make its atmosphere resemble our giant planets', so I based its appearance on Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune. bsky.app/profile/astr...
This artwork depicts a possible appearance for TOI-6981 b, which is depicted as a brown/cream-coloured odd combination of Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune, further tinted orangish by the light of its M4V host star. Behind it is the constellation of Orion as seen from TOI-6981, its stars displaced from how they look from Earth.

Altair is a nearby A-type star. It is also one of the hottest nearby stars with X-ray emission, probably arising from corona around its equatorial regions, where convective envelope which sustain them persist on this highly oblate star. #art #astronomy #space #spaceart #star #Altair
This artwork depicts a fictional view of Altair's corona seen with SDO AIA camera's 171 Å channel, accompanied by some information.

At the centre is the star; the photosphere is entirely dark, and the corona can be seen as a faint band ringing the star's equator and intermediate latitudes, while the visible pole is dark. The corona is depicted as slightly heterogenous, with dark patches and bright spots scattered across it.

At top left is basic information about Altair (α Aql): mass of 1.86 ± 0.03 Solar masses, radii of 2.008 ± 0.006 Solar radii (equator) / 1.565 ± 0.014 Solar radii (pole), effective temperature of 6780 K (equator) / 8621 K (pole), and rotation period of 7.79 hours.

Top right contains my summary of Altair's coronal properties obtained from Robrade & Schmitt (2009). The coronal surface flux is comparable to solar background corona, the plasma temperature is similar to low activity stars like the Sun and is dominated by quiescent/weakly active regions and open magnetic fields with weak contributions from moderately active regions, and that the coronal structures are small (few %) relative to the star. Altair's X-ray flux varies, arising from both rotational modulation, as well as intrinsic variabilities, eg. emergence and decay of active regions. Flares are not detected, as expected.Same as previous image, although Altair's limb and equator are outlined as solid line and dashed line, respectively.

Part 2 of the HR 8799 systems by Fruit. This time we venture closer in and arrive at HR 8799 c, also named Offa. #Astronomy #Space #Planet #SpaceArt #Moon #Worldbuilding #Speculative #Exoplanet
A view of Eomaer, a fast spinning sub-earth with a darker submoon named Garmund. This system is the result of a merger. Eomaer is the only major moon in the system, but it likely had a bigger collisional family of objects in the past. Unlabelled version of the art Description of the objects made by Fruit

A moon system around HR 8799 b, designed by my friend. Very interesting moon system she has designed, CPDs of superjupiters are quite chaotic... #Space #Astronomy #SpaceArt #Worldbuilding #Exoplanet #Moon #Speculative
In the image you can see the 3 moons of HR 8799 b, with b being in the background. The first moon is a small Io-like object, the other 2 are significantly larger, high albedo sub-earths.

A recently discovered planet around β Pictoris, β Pictoris d is the smallest of the 3 giants in the system, being only 2-3 times more massive than Jupiter. Inspired by the following paper arxiv.org/pdf/2609.21125 #Space #Astronomy #SpaceArt #Exoplanet #Planet
Beta Pictoris d, a hazy superjovian with a pale color. A small icy planet, brought from the outer belt casts its shadow on it. It will get ejected at high velocities, like many others before it.

WASP-47 A very peculiar system I must say... A super-Earth orbiting inwards of a hot Jupiter and a hot Neptune. A temperate giant also lies further outward. It is kind of similar to 55 Cancri, but with a more extreme inner system.

The hot subdwarf illuminates its much colder companion. Part of the "dayside" brightness however, is due to the irradiated surface being very hot, reaching temperatures of above 10000 K.

Decided to try drawing something different today. Here's a young Venus-like planet orbiting Epsilon Eridani with pools of liquid sulfur on its surface. #art #astronomy #astronomyart #space #spaceart #planet
This artwork is a pseudo-fisheye lens depiction of the environments of a somewhat colder Venus-like planet. On the greyish rocky surface is a field of boulders closest to the camera, dark red lakes of liquid sulfur, and a fissure eruption producing a curtain of lava. The sky is dark yellowish. Moving up, there is a white cloud layer made mainly of water. An aircraft is seen flying within it. Further up is the blue sky, with high altitude clouds and tholin haze. Eventually the sky becomes dark and starry, and a single asteroidal moon can be seen.

From glass beads and lunar map to #Mercury: New study indirectly determines SiO2-content of Mercury’s surface. With 37 %, it is less abundant than thought. Mercury’s crust must have formed by extreme volcanism. www.mps.mpg.de/mercury-s-cr... @uni-muenster.de @uni-goettingen.de @renggli.bsky.social
Three steps to Mercury. Step 1: Using laboratory measurements, the researchers established a relationship between infrared radiation and SiO2 content. Step 2: They verified this relationship using measurement data from the Moon and lunar samples. Step 3: Using infrared data from Mercury, the researchers were then able to determine the SiO2 content of Mercury’s surface.

Land of Smooth Plains and Tall Mountains Aside from tall mountains, Io's surface is really smooth, and covered by relatively low-density material. I imagine it might be ash and SO2 frost covering the surface like snow. #art #astronomy #space #SolarSystem #planet #Io #Jupiter

The planets of HD 20794 (e Eridani, 82 G. Eridani) I multiplied their minimum masses by ~1.3 to account for their orbital inclinations (from debris disc). b (~3 Earth masses) is an airless rock. c (~4 ME) has CO2 atmosphere. d (~8 ME) is a sub-Neptune. #art #astronomy #space #exoplanet #planet
This artwork depicts the three planets of e Eridani, also known as 82 G. Eridani and HD 20794, found by Nari et al. (2025).

e Eridani b is depicted as a greyish rocky planet with subtle colour variations, bright crater ejecta, and no atmosphere.

e Eridani c is depicted as an atmosphere planet, with blue tint on the dayside (left) from Rayleigh scattering, and pale creamish coloured sulfuric and water clouds on the nightside (right).

e Eridani d is depicted as a beige-coloured sub-Neptune, similar to Saturn, with patterns similar to Neptune.

The victors of the mass accumulation game emerged from the protoplanetary disc to find others in their vicinity. Their instinct tells them one thing: consume everything in their way. The oligarchic growth phase had begun. #ACelestialJournal #art #astronomy #space #SolarSystem #planet
This artwork depicts a fictional state of the inner Solar System, 4 million years after formation, when the protoplanetary disc had just dissipated. Aside from the isolated Mercury, there are nine planets packed in the region.

In the foreground are the ten protoplanets (also known as planetary embryos or oligarchs), along with their names. Vininghktan (today known as Mercury) is depicted as an airless, cratery planet with numerous large-scale eruptions of lava. The other planets are cloudy worlds with varying shades; Ene and Nema, the next two planets, are creamish due to having sulfuric acid clouds; Dani, Kano, Yuri, and Ado are whitish as they feature dense cloud decks of water clouds. Finally, Ino, Sumi, and Mona (Mars) have patchy water cloud decks. At the centre of the image is the title of the image, "Oligarchs of the Inner Solar System".

The orbit diagram in the background shows the Sun (left) and the orbits of the protoplanets.

Theia: The Plot Device Theia is commonly depicted as a generic airless planet with lava pools on its cratered surface...essentially the popular, outdated depiction of how Earth was when it was young. Here's my take on this hypothetical planet. #astronomy #space #art #SolarSystem #planet #Theia
The image depicts the hypothetical planet Theia, which was invoked to have collided with Earth to form the Moon when the Solar System was young.

The planet is depicted as a temperate world with volcanic islands and even huge magma plume uplifts under the thick, hazy atmosphere.

Also in the image is a fictional depiction of the collisional history of the inner planets; the top of this diagram shows the surviving planets: Mercury, Venus, a fictional planet, Earth, Theia, Mars, and another fictional planet. The two fictional planets would later be ejected.
