We are so proud of our bandmates who made the trek and showed up for democracy. Thank you to our new friends in the DC Activist Street Band for the great jams and hospitality! All photos Courtesy ©️ Lloyd Wolf www.lloydwolf.com

So it was this weekend, when a handful of ERB members literally drove through the night to team up with the DC Activist Street Band for the Defend the Vote March on Washington.

For as much as we love playing in and around Rhode Island, we also love to travel to spread joy and solidarity wherever there are people to jam with.

What a night we had at Lippitt Park! Thank you to the city of Providence for sponsoring our show via the Ely Fund Performing Arts Series, to everyone who came out to dance with us, and to the good folks of Hope and Pawtucket who put up with our making a ruckus on a school night.

Coming this Thursday to a neighborhood park near you…it’s ERB! Thanks to another generous sponsorship from Providence’s municipal Ely Fund program, we will be at Lippitt Park for an open rehearsal on August 27. Come out to hear the music — or sit in and jam with us!

Megan’s pieces reflect on her connection with her father and the experience of navigating the healthcare system, including collaborations with him during his battle with cancer. It is a privilege to support our bandmates in their artistic endeavors, both within and outside of ERB!

One of our favorite types of gigs is getting to support an ERB member with their work outside our band. Saxophonist Megan Bent just had an art opening at Machines with Magnets as part of an exhibition called Afterlife.

We’ve got something extra special planned for rehearsal this week: We’ll be practicing in Riverside Park on Thursday night as part of Providence’s Ely Fund Neighborhood Performing Arts Series. Come on out to watch us…or play with us!

There’s nothing like an ERB parade — you can see the joy from the other night when we led the Tartan Army across the Pedestrian Bridge! Now imagine this scene…but with tens of thousands of people lining the whole of downtown in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.

“Spontaneous moments of raucous musical joy” is literally the ERB tagline. It’s hard to think of a moment more spontaneous or joyful than this chance encounter with the beautiful newlyweds Summer and Joshua at the Minneapolis Mayday parade last weekend. So glad the SousaCam was rolling!

There was already magic in the air throughout the Mayday festival but getting to play for and dance with the happy couple was truly a highlight of our trip to Minnesota. Congratulations, Summer and Joshua! And thank you Blake Nellis for sharing these amazing shots of the citywide wedding reception!

Meet Summer and Joshua. These lovebirds got married Sunday morning on their way to the Minneapolis Mayday festival. They and their friends slotted in right behind us in the parade. So ERB became their wedding band over their walk down the aisle to Powderhorn Park!

*record scratch* Yep, that's us! You’re probably wondering how we ended up in this situation… In the 17-year history of the Extraordinary Rendition Band, we’ve played in a whole lot of parades. We’ve also crashed a few weddings. But we had never done both at the same time — until this weekend.
