This deserves a new thread. The claim here, I think, is that today's C19 vaccines would have >= 95% VE if tested in a (hypothetical) completely naive cohort. These vaccines face two problems: waning and immune escape. Both are solvable with a faster vaccine update schedule, on the order of 6 mo.

Cases like this tell us ICE must be dismantled. I don't say this casually. A few policy reforms or replacing leadership cannot change the culture of an institution capable of doing this casually and repeatedly, with no hint of any fear of accountability. We also need retroactive prosecutions.

At one point early in the Iran War I asked some friends at what point gas prices would become a problem for congressional Republicans such that removing Trump or at least taking the helm of caretaker governance would be needed. They said $6 or $7 a gallon. I said there is no such number.

The Iran war isn't obviously an unwinnable stalemale. Iran is playing the long game, and may have the tools to effectively force the US to sue for peace. The outcome may depend on whether the rest of the world will intervene to keep goods flowing, or sit back and let Iran take Trump's lunch money.
