So assuming our theoretical max here is 8.5, you could fit: - Super Mario Sunshine - Mario Party 4-7 - DDR: Mario Mix - Paper Mario TTYD - Mario Kart: Double Dash - Mario Power Tennis - Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour - Wario World - Luigi's Mansion

Technically, PS2 , Wii and Xbox have 2 different DVD formats. DVD5, which was the most common and could hold 4.7GB and DVD9 which held 8.5GB was only used sparingly (Xbox only released in DVD9) There DVD10 as well (Same idea, but double sided discs) that never saw use.

Nintendo did something similar with Super Mario All-Stars on Wii. The actual game data is only 20MB in size (The ROM, SNES VC Emulator, Disc Channel animation and a cut down Opera Browser with HTML pages for the manual) the Update partition for the Wii itself eats up x10 the space on the disc!

You can see on this diagram how the GameCube is laid out internally in a understandable fashion. The Hi-Speed Port where the Player connects is a parallel port, which interfaces through ARAM, the disc loads the Player into Splash RAM then shut off the drive. GBA data goes through this to the GPU/DSP

That's because the IPL only looks on the DVD via the DVD Controller for a boot.dol/apploader. If the IPL had a side-loader function to say, load from an EXI device (MC 1, MC2, SP1, SP2) that would work. That's what modern IPL mod's do. The GBP however, runs purely through Audio RAM

That's because Animal Crossing on GameCube is only roughly 18.4MB in size. That's enough to fit entirely within the 24MB RAM the GameCube has (Plus the additional 16MB for Audio RAM you could also tap into as extra RAM via SDK calls)

Experiment T @experimentt.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
The Game Boy Player only eats up a whopping 4MB of disc space (Literally just the binary and opening.bnr) so 99% of the disc is completely empty. (With some audio mods to mono, Animal Crossing or Crazy Taxi could fit, realistically the SDK libraries the games rely on would need that unused space.

Koki Ito is so brilliant. He's the anchor holding so much of city pop together, and he makes complex grooves flow so smoothly like they're nothing. I was torn trying to pick a song to show off his stuff, but I think his work for Meiko Nakahara is super good! www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMZR...

On GameCube, many effects would've been done on the TEV Units, which act as a pseudo programmable blender that can feed it's own results back to itself to further alter them up to 16 times. On 3DS, it lacks this and has to render everything twice for 2 different framebuffers for the 3D effect.

This would be due to artistic decisions to improve visibility on the varying LCD panels for the 3DS family and hardware differences. The PICA GPU on the 3DS is a hybrid of a fixed function pipeline GPU (Like the PS2/GC) with some programmable vertex and geo effects (Being OpenGL 1.1ES compliant)

It's not just Ship. Their main backend LibUltraShip (Used for ALL of their projects) is also vibecoded. You can check the commits for traces of Claude code. Some of Kenix3's commits try to scrub the Claude info to hide this fact, but they're...not exactly doing well at hiding obvious signs of AI use

If you see news of a StarFox SNES PC port. Kindly ignore it. It's another Slopcomp job and for extra spice, Kadowontu (Creator of StarFox EX) has admitted in broad daylight to not only using AI, but is also using the stolen source code from the gigaleaks & also stealing credit from others work.

Wasn't there also a theoretical use of the EXT/The Satellaview's added EXT port to do something with Microdrives someone came up with and never saw actual proof of concept? Vaguely recall discussions about that back in like, 09/010.

With a decomp it'd be viable. The question would be what strut's were changed between revisions, what was added/removed, where are they pointed from the software's perspective ect. This service probably had the cart sent in, dumped the EEPROM data, then converted it to GCI and written to a mem card

Was this game PAL-optimized or not? Just wondering because if it wasn't running the PAL version in NTSC might be the winner.

Swapping ps1_rom.bin with another PS1 BIOS will restore the full PS1 opening, CD Player and Memory Card Menu. Ideally one from a DTL test or devkit. I've injected a full DTL PS2 BIOS into ps2_emu, but I need to work out how to resign it back into a SELF and test if it works on a CECHA/B PS3.

- OSDSYS is completely missing in these, as is the PS1DRV and DVD Player. So trying to boot them directly will result in the EE hanging on OSDSYS or XPARAM2. However, Fastbooting with them in a PS2 emulator WILL allow games to run with them. -NetEmu removed the RDRAM check, stripping out 10kb extra

I've managed to extract the PS2 BIOS from ps2_emu (Used in CECHA/b consoles) and ps2_netemu (Used for PS2 Classics on the PS3, PS4 and PS5. Some notes: It's based on the DTL-50000 revision BIOS, the one used within the PS2 TEST consoles for development testing on retail hardware. - See comments

Always take Youtubers with a huge lump of salt on anything technical like this. More often than not they'll gloss over things, not declare what they were actually made with, get information wrong/be outdated ect.

I would say in future just be extra cautious with projects like this, dig through and check for any signs of AI usage, even in the toolchains they're using. AI slop drinkers are banking on people not looking through the receipts for their 5 minutes of fame and it's only going to get worse sadly.

I'll also point out that the author of this "recomp" has no qualms using the hard R word on anyone who dares to criticise them or AI use and is more than happy to steal commissioned work to feed it into AI. (doesn't know copyright lol) Let's not support thin skinned man babies such as xkem0x.

It's using PSXRecomp as it's backbone, which if you do so much as a surface level poke, shows it's using Claude V4 as one of it's primary code backends. So saying no A.I. was used in any capacity is outright incorrect/lying when your recomp backend is very much using it.
