That's John "Moral Clarity" Ossoff, for those of you who don't think that Democrats are willing to condemn their opponents on principled grounds. bsky.app/profile/atru...

The president is trying to incite pogroms. He promises to protect those who participate.
On Truth Social, @realDonaldTrump writes:
“The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants. There is Violence, Murder, and Mayhem all over the State. The people of Minnesota must fight back.
You have been robbed, and abandoned by your State Government. Your Governor is an incompetent thief who doesn't want to get involved. He just wants to get out of town with as much as he can steal, and then, lead a quiet life. The Somalians should not be allowed to get away with what they are doing. They view you as weak and stupid people. Fight back Minnesota, fight back! If you need, the Federal Government will come to your rescue.
Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, must immediately ask for Federal help - and leave the rest to us! President
DONALD J. TRUMP”

This is in no way an exaggeration. Trump does want to save his political power by inciting violence. Fortunately, we have already seen the people of Minnesota reject this and mobilize to protect their neighbors, even at the cost of their own lives. American heroes. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Personally, I'd be too frightened to join up if they used that "Other Mommy" trailer I saw before the Odyssey. Two Mommies sounds pretty mellow, though. Like a wacky divorce-remarriage film from the 70's. bsky.app/profile/atru...

If you are an American, you will pay for every penny of their folly no matter how the Trump administration tries to hide it. Gas prices and service on an unsustainable national debt are only the start. Future violence and the breakdown of global order will be much more costly still.

The head of the Fraud Task Force unaware of corruption inside the Trump administration, despite it being widely covered in the media. All by design: The Public Integrity unit in DOJ was gutted and has been told to focus on welfare fraud in blue states. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/stop-paper...
The unit is hiring again to focus on “how politicians and state officials facilitate the misuse of taxpayer dollars.” That sounds good — until you realize what this actually means is they plan to go after blue state officials for allegations of welfare fraud. Trump’s circle will remain safe. After all, his former defense lawyer runs the DOJ now.

This clip is also amazing. Rubio is asked first about an IG investigation. He ignores this, and says he will not respond to media accusations. But the media is all we have. The internal mechanism of accountability like IGs are not working because Trump broke them. bsky.app/profile/ones...
Under Trump, Inspectors General, whose job it is to root out corruption, have been defunded and fired, replaced with friendly appointees. Among the remaining career staff “nobody wants to speak up about anything.” The State Department Office of Inspector General is led by two acting officials, and has produced one third fewer reports in the last year.

The statement is pure folly - a bombastic, fascist announcement of a doomed quest to achieve something that cannot exist in the real world and would be a horrifying curse if it could. I hope that my country can eliminate the evil these people represent before it works too much harm on the world.

This is a repellant, dictator's vision - national power to dominate others is an empire's objective, not that of a republic. And "national power" itself in an age of complex economic and environmental interdependence - to say nothing of nuclear weapons - is at best a subjective, relational thing.

And the key is that you do this not by any insight into the underlying object of speculation. You do this by understanding the psychology of other market participants. And this is part of the reason why Hayek and efficient pricing theories break down in speculative bubbles.

Not "panic before everyone else." Anyone can do that. People (rightly) panicked about Tesla's P/E ratio a decade ago and what did that get them? Panicking immediately before everyone else is the practical version of "calling the top."
