We have a very warm fleece for Abbi and a lightweight waterproof for the rain

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

We have had 5 greyhounds and each was given a new name. The latest was called Noduff Tropicana so he needed an easier name for round the house. We got him a collar to remind us what name to use. The fact that it was also the name of an inspirational Scottish Rugby giant is just a bonus.

Please sir I want some more! Doddie’s perpetual cry. He is not starved, honestly, but he has not been out of racing kennels long enough yet to understand there is no need to eat every bit of food in the house.

At least the magnificent sparrow hawk is making a meal of the blue tit unlike my neighbour’s bloody cat that just kills them for fun. One day the cat will come into the garden while my 40 mph couch potato is awake. Then we will see what fun looks like

Looks like a lovely hound. We are not unbiased however.

Doddie made it to the evening news. They must have included him because he looks so happy. Really that is his greyhound happy face.

Abbi and Doddie had a trip to Edinburgh today for a multi faith pet blessing in Greyfriars Kirk and afterwards paid their respects at the grave of Greyfriars Bobby.

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

It was lots of fun though Edinburgh during the festival weeks was not the best place to be trying to manoeuvre a 14 meter coach through. It was crammed with history but then the Old Town part of Auld Reekie has been there a very long time.

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

So right. We bought £250 worth of happiness yesterday when we adopted Doddie

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

I think the law is that you have to post pictures of your greyhound playing being excited and alert. This is the best he can do

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

I have had the full length cuddle with Doddie and the paws when I try to stop. We also had the first trip into town today to see how he coped with high street noise and crowds. All went very well

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Last night I didn’t sleep much at all because of our house guest. I kept waking at every little sound in case he was upsetting Abbi. Of course he was a perfect gentleman as you would expect. Now I just have to decide if I will let him go back to rescue kennels or invite him to join the family

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Bit of a special day in Abbi’s house today. We got a boy to foster for a couple of weeks. Coby is the same age as her and we want to see how she gets on with him. He is a lovely natured big boy. Fingers crossed the visit works out OK

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

In the summer time our pup wears this sun hat. It does not keep the sun out of her eyes or keep her cool but it is noticeable that in the street people walking towards us very often break into a smile and I know for sure it was not because they saw me. Dogs help raise peoples’ mood in so many ways

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

I have now become the official reviewer on behalf of Abbi. The suppliers of her treats asked for a customer review and I have not a clue how they taste but I managed to gather enough info from the way she looks longingly at them to submit a positive review.

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

It’s not just at home they are so active. Take them out on a nice day and watch them struggle to get at least part of their body on a mat while they consider their next move

120

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

I think Abbi wants to emigrate to Australia. She has spent almost all day upside down today

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

Well 75% of Red Squittens are in my part of the world and we do have nice hills like those so I would guess you are in Scotland somewhere. We have no reds in our area but we had a visit from a grey one in our garden the other day

Of course you could. They are marvellous dogs. Also they are great for people who are too old for long walks or who hate walking in bad weather.

Brilliant choice of dog. But then I would say that wouldn’t I

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

Great to see another happy hog outcome. During the heatwave and drought in the U.K. a lot of people are finding that even leaving out a dish of water will bring a hedgehog to their garden. If you also put out some food they are turning up by the bus load. Surprising for normally solitary animals

It’s Trump’s head superimposed on another man’s body so 100% faked. Dolly has not let us down.

My daughter adopted two Galgos from Spain and the little girl one is tiny. It’s worth checking with rescues if you have any hound specific ones near you. This is Sabi the Spanish galgo.

Thank you. Trouble is she knows it and uses her cuteness to get whatever she wants. She was born in Ireland and raced in England until she was 2 then came to Scotland to retire. She lived with us and our other hound called Brodie but he died earlier this year. She was a very big help to us then.

We are back home from the greyhound festival in Kent and Abbi picked up some prizes in the fun dog show there. It was not crufts and all the judges were unashamedly fans of greyhounds but we had a lovely time and met so many nice people. Well done Abbi

Please remember food and water for UK hedgehogs during the heatwave. They are normally solitary but Last night 4 arrived at my daughter’s garden as soon as it got dark. She ended up with three in the feed station plus a poorly one to take to a rescue in the morning www.rhs.org.uk/wildlife/hel...

I so loved my pet rats. But their lives are so short. Every one with their own character and desperate to interact with anybody who was kind to them

0591

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

Exactly as intended in the greyhound manual. There is a name for what they do. The follow up manual explains.

010

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

Unfortunately we have run out of Spoke Semi Moist food and have to pad out the meagre supply we still have with a perfectly good dryer kibble. This is the result. They dig in the dish to get to their favourite and scatter the food everywhere. They know what they like.

110

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

I frequently have to refer to people as Mr or Mrs then the name of the dog. In fact I struggle to remember the last time someone stoped me to speak to me rather than make a fuss of my dog. I am feeling quite dejected now that I have realised that I am so uninteresting

020

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

We had a Labrador that was much the same at 13 but perked up when on holiday with my daughter’s greyhound. So we got our first greyhound and the Lab lived till he was 4 months short of 18. For his last 9 months he went off the back legs but he still got out with his pal

I could not reply to the post I saw on here wishing Barack Obama a happy 65th birthday tomorrow but I hope as a non US citizen I am permitted to send best wishes from Scotland to him and his family. A fine leader and human being.

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

I have to agree right up until I see another dog then that one captures my heart. Our last Labrador and his companion house rabbit were pretty near the top of my list in their day. Both now gone unfortunately.

The RAF fly Airbus A400 aircraft and there is a roll on roll off firefighting kit that any A400 can carry without modification. It can drop 20,000 litres of water or fire retardant. I have seen water drops from the A400 predecessor the C130 but that required compressed air. The new system does not

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

It was Abbi’s 4th birthday today and she got to go to the cafe at our local airfield for a special birthday breakfast. Then we went to have a look at some of the planes and what a surprise when we saw what was taking off. Can a dog get as emotional about the sound of a Merlin engine as her dad

130

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 10/07/2026

Well done you. If you leave food out in the hedgehog house she will keep coming back. If she doesn’t others will arrive. We have feeding stations in our garden and there are a couple in each night. Usually they avoid each other but sparks fly when they turn up at the same time.

010

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 17/06/2026

They are not always so cute. We sometimes get two trying to eat from the same feeding station at the same time even though we have three in different parts of a small garden.

000

@BB_Abbi_Brodie_Doddie @excop.bsky.social · 17/06/2026

Sometimes they get too tired to scratch and just snooze
