Finished the final boss for New Game+ of Another Eden Begins (not posting the screenshot here because accidental spoiler lol). Can finally give my verdict for the story. 11/10. PURRFECTION. Very much trademark Masato Kato's wild ride. ESPECIALLY also as fan of Chrono Cross.

............I won't get into how a certain parallel time layer character also ended up ruining her original's established character. I don't care other fans see her as pitiable, tragic, or even *cute*. Begins' kinship reminds me further why I love the original BUT absolutely hate her parallel.

My head is a mess, but basically from how I see it, the older style character quests are just as much of Aldo's stories as the characters. Recruitment and kinship events in Begins help to bridge the progression more naturally. That's why something feels missing in recent ones.

On one hand, it is understandable -- Aldo is already involved and gets to know the characters through their focused stories (mythos/apoc/ensemble), so on one hand, the character quests framed like the older ones can be redundant. But it can *still* work.

The thing is that, sadly, it makes me lament more that the character quests in the original mobile game involves Aldo less. I couldn't quite pinpoint out why at first, but now it all makes sense. Basically, for me, they run contradictory on what those quests are for.

Hmm, I was extremely cautious about the bonding/kinship system in Begins at first, but now that I see how I fit into the lore (at least for *this* version of Aldo, as suggested in a certain event in NG+), I am actually glad it is developed as it is.

Anyway, yes, can definitely do no-Thillelille run if you're running fire team. Just need extremely careful planning AND a little bit of luck. (I beat this before Xeno-Domain in NG+, so there'll probably be better loadout if you do it later.)

Personally, despite the time-travel premise seemingly makes it similar to Chrono Trigger on surface, I am in the opinion that Another Eden (both the original and Begins) is MUCH closer to Chrono Cross in terms of themes and vibes. I can yap A LOT about this, seriously.

Chrono Cross is THE game that defined my middle school years, and it remains my all-time favorite despite its many quirks! I actually enjoy the game more as adult, and laughing at myself now due to how bosses those floored me as a kid actually feels easy -- because now I understand the mechanics.
