That said I think one factor that go understated about the silver age is the first nostalgia wave, because many dc heroes were remakes from golden age heroes you had the first major examples of grown up fans being an active fanbase for it.

The code is complicated I think it should never be a thing that said it came from the fear of being attacked again and overcorrection. Some cities did actually ban comics with municipal laws but that said the reason it existed was just that to protect their butts

There were never conversations before that got this power on how to act and many of them were in the party scenes trying to be cool, I grew up around that culture I saw how they talked on Ellis forums. While many were progressive or tried to be they all wanted to be rock stars

why are all the comic creators like that? Most of that generation of creators were looking to get ingratiated in Hollywood or tv, many of them ended up following Warren Ellis or Neil Gaiman lead since they were the guys trying to move the works from nerd niche into that.
