I now realize marvel now has the ability to connect this to the Spider-Man mythos

It’s kind of weird to think on because I’m so used to it as a trope that I think it’s normal but this makes a case I didn’t think on about secret identity as a pure American immigrant thing

I kind of wish he would just stay off social media trying to rile up fans he has a history of this and while I'm sypathetic in some regards.....it's more his bad habit

Of all the things Archie did for comics what do you mean the creator of Archie imported comics to the uk?

And the tragedy of the Captain Marvel case, the reason Fawcett decided to not put up a fight, it’s would have been too expensive at that point and Cap was not a high seller anymore. Also lawyer and research fees stacked up

It’s time for dubious copyright law. Apparently this is why dc lost the first case against captain Marvel. Because they fucked up supermam copyright

The book starts with Gladiator Superman comparisons and it show how much is assumed about it because there actually isn’t any firm proof that Jerry read it but also nothing to deny apparently, Jerry was never asked and never went to court about so while it could be true….

I now present Neil Gaiman’s trying to look cool

241

the Spectacular Exalted Speed @exaltedspeed.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

why are all the comic creators like that? Most of that generation of creators were looking to get ingratiated in Hollywood or tv, many of them ended up following Warren Ellis or Neil Gaiman lead since they were the guys trying to move the works from nerd niche into that.

I never thought I could feel sorry for Wertham......

010

the Spectacular Exalted Speed @exaltedspeed.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

Someone had the theory that Wertham was using the scare mostly to gain fame and the more I read of this the more true I think it is.

we are always the hero in our own story.....

110

the Spectacular Exalted Speed @exaltedspeed.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

I kind of have plans to cover this in a form one day....but for now, when ever I talk about Wertham I make it a point to separate it a bit from the red scare not that it doesn't play a factor but because the history of what it connect to me is bigger and happened way before.

I consider Peter Cullen not just an icon of Transformers but also of Gundam. His voice in the Toonami promos sold me on the franchise and this serious dramatic robot show that still resonate to me, anytime I think of the one year war the way he said it resonates even now,

*Exalted looks up the term myth because he's starting to wonder if he's even using it right and finds debates about what counts as folklore or myth or if they are the same thing. I sometimes feels like twitter doesn't realize it's just repeating decades of academic discourse.

on some level I imagine it was done to keep Star Wars pure, like Star Wars never tended to do crossovers like this, there is of course the dablings of it like with the transformers toys but they never did a story to say justify why Luke Skywalker has a giant robot version of himself.

Just to have my actual thoughts, I find the film is in that same boat of stuff like Hercules where I find it more interesting less as a stand alone telling but more a pop culture reflection, we are sticking other models of stories onto the original.....

Okay I will say There is one way Watchmen ruined comics……it told a generation of writers that sound effects were not cool. I can live without that,

053

the Spectacular Exalted Speed @exaltedspeed.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

Sigh No it didn’t, what “ruined” the comic industry is marketing factors and not focusing on raising up talent or a desire to keep them from other industries.

Finally after a day of sushi, caffeine and getting people home from a con I can now write about Spider-man Brand New day.....a massive betrayal of the franchise built on one of the worst stories of all time, the multiple....Wait I'm not talking about the comics...ohh....

Okay full review, lets see how much I want to write about this. Wonder Man is a very intimate character study on being an actor with it's two leads Simon and Trevor, it's mostly about the love of art and THE DRIVE to do it, and it's also the most possible niche MCU project.
