Repainted my rusty patio furniture the colors of UW-Madison Memorial Union terrace furniture: John Deere green & yellow, and Allis-Chalmers Orange. No Lake Mendota, but I get a cheerful nostalgic alma mater vibe.

As a dad, I totally respect this. As Packer fan, gonna be a hater and ask if they have an action figure of the traffic cop Moss pushed with his car or a Reggie White figure that can throw Carter into the QB. Sorry. Must acknowledge they were HOF greats. Scheme not HOF caliber in this lovely gif.

Doing a walkthrough of a retiree's lab, and I think I have too much empathy for this 4-degree C to consider sending it to surplus. You and me both 4-degree C, you and me both.

My 1st faculty job in 2001 was so consuming I feared I’d drop my love of running, so I made an alliterative goal: 10,000 miles to tenure. I made it, and today, after 2 promotions, a move, a sabbatical, knee surgery, and raising a kid, I hit 60,000 miles. Current goal: running at retirement.

Has the EPSCoR program been threatened? The NSF webpage still promotes it as "advancing geographic diversity in STEM". Perhaps geographic diversity is an acceptable form of DEI? And just coincidentally, it supports three red states for every blue state.

We were there in July and loved it. Here's a light microscope image to go with your fluorescent staining.

American kestrel at #UIC taken with my iPhone SE. Compare to pic by @phylogenomics.bsky.social and you'll understand one reason I follow him.

fuzzy pixelated picture of a kestrel in flight with wings tucked back. Entirely inferior to the kestrel picture posed by Jonathan Eisen.
